people who “hate Gen AI” may not realize that most filmmakers cannot afford a cinema camera, lens, 4x lights, and grip equipment to make a shot that looks 1/10 as good as a 10 cent Gen AI shot I’m a die hard live action cinematographer in my heart, but I know the math I’ve also worked in 3D/Games for a long time and it’s similar that most can’t afford the computer hardware and lack access to the training to make again shots that looks 1/100 as good as the sloppiest AI gen image Consumer and gamer takes on this issue, I ignore. People in production see the state of live action production AND in 3D/VFX business and can also do math

@_KRF that’s an option. the other option is Hong Sang-soo type filmmaking. then there’s a lot in the middle. some auteurs make large crew movies, still retain their unique voice and choices - perhaps Tarantino is an example of that.

Hollywood filmmakers are often just hired directors. Not real filmmakers who can make and release their own movies whenever they want :) - only indie film is real :)

@CliftonSellers The paintings flanking your head look like Mickey Mouse ears. Space them out so there is negative space behind your head. Lower the intensity of the lights on the walls by half. Bring your keylight around to the front of your face about 20% more - your eyes are too dark.

Was in this space back then. Definitely what the Creator class was supposed to be. My brother helped me shoot a vertical test on my FS100 and we got called blasphemers. Problem is these projects were started as resumes to join the system. Money is the driving factor. Not the love of craft.

What sucks most about YouTube and social media going all-in on cloning TikTok is how it abandoned 10 years of scripted Web Series innovation. Short form series & sketch comedy had a renaissance. The YouTube Spaces program was killer. “Creators” were filmmakers, not influencers.
