@mash2k22 @twigsslvr @eternallyRaq Democrats usually get around 43% of the presidential vote in South Carolina. In Nevada, they usually get around 49–50%. Also, it’s been proven that South Carolina is much more representative of the national Democratic coalition than Nevada.

@_MagsMedia @twigsslvr @eternallyRaq In what way does that tell you SC is better than NV? You think that a state with a democratic base so small that the last time the state voted for a dem president was 1976 should be the one to choose the nominee for ~50% of the country?

South Carolina isn’t even a swing state! If you want black voters in the south then why not Georgia? Southern & swing state! And Nevada (also a swing state btw) also has a diverse demographic! Maybe we focus on the country’s overall demographics instead of one single group?
Politics & Poll Tracker 📡@PollTracker2024

South Carolina Democratic Party Chairwoman Christale Spain if Nevada goes first before South Carolina in the primary calendar “If Nevada gets elevated over South Carolina, it would be because of their Latino vote.” “So you would then be telling Black voters that you matter less than brown voters. And I refuse to believe that our party wants to send any type of message like that.” Source: NYT

@twigsslvr @mash2k22 @eternallyRaq So now apply that same logic to your theory that blue states should go first. That’s why this whole red state vs. blue state argument is silly, because that logic applies to both.

@_MagsMedia @mash2k22 @eternallyRaq i agree which is why they have primaries and delegates of their own, moving them out of the beginning slate doesn’t mean their votes suddenly stop having worth

I notice that people are unaware when I say the math doesn’t work and this is why a candidate will lose it’s because those people are over relying on enthusiasm of Black voters to get candidates over the top Especially white candidates.

@twigsslvr @mash2k22 @eternallyRaq Whether a state is red or blue in the general election is irrelevant. The primary is about choosing the DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE, not the general election winner. Democrats in red states have just as much right to help choose their party’s nominee as Democrats in swing or blue states.

@_MagsMedia @mash2k22 @eternallyRaq red states which have no possibility of voting blue in the general election should not have outsized influence on picking the party’s nominee 😭😭 honestly we should probably do all swing states first at least until we get rid of the electoral college

@mash2k22 @twigsslvr @eternallyRaq I was making the point that SC would be a better option than Nevada, not that SC should go first. NV is 49% White, 31% Latino, and 10% Black. That does not reflect the Democratic electorate.

@_MagsMedia @twigsslvr @eternallyRaq This would make more sense if the state that was chosen actually had cross tabs that reflect the electorate. South Carolina, which is 60%+ white and ~25%, is not that state.

@mash2k22 @twigsslvr @eternallyRaq Again, we’re talking about a primary election where voters are choosing the DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE. If a state’s partisan lean really mattered, they would start the process in blue states.

@twigsslvr @eternallyRaq You do realize we’re talking about a primary election, right? It doesn’t matter if a state is red or blue. What matters is whether the state represents a broader cross-section of Democratic voters. A lot of blue states do not.

@_MagsMedia @eternallyRaq a red state should literally never go first like that should genuinely just be so out of question, that means iowa and sc should not even be in the starting slate

@christoaivalis @eternallyRaq My comment was never just about Black voters. I was simply pointing out that you’d get a better view of the electorate in South Carolina compared to Nevada. I also agree with Georgia — I think Georgia would be a great choice.

Yes, but Black voters aren't a monolith of course, and South Carolina' Black population isn't that representative of the national population Georgia, by virtue of the fact that it has a bigger Black population, and Atlanta draws many internal Black migration, IS more representative

@important_hair @eternallyRaq NV is only 10% Black and only 8% vote Democrat. 49% are White, 31% Latino. That is not a full view of the Democratic electorate; the vote share is dominated by 2 groups. Nobody said anything about 1 race. If anything, Georgia is a great example, like she said.

@_MagsMedia @eternallyRaq You’re getting a “view of all demographics” in Nevada. You seem to think it’s important that one demographic, which functionally contains zero swing voters, be overrepresented in the first primary. I do not understand why

@important_hair @eternallyRaq I said the overall Democratic electorate, meaning all races. The majority of Southern states are still predominantly White. In a Southern state, you’re getting a view of all demographics, while most Western states have a much smaller Black population.

@OG_dingus @Press4BC Nice that you showed the appropriations bill, which funded far more than just Israel. Here’s a bill from just last week that would have ended U.S. funding for Israel—and Crockett voted in favor of it.

It is clearer now than ever before that Florida is ready for leadership that shakes up the status quo. Right now, politicians on both sides of the aisle are more concerned with billionaire donors and their own electability than with meeting the needs of their communities.

@Press4BC I wasn’t implying she isn’t educated. I was just pointing out that one is more qualified. Crockett has a Bachelor of Arts degree and then some, so it doesn’t really make sense to say she shouldn’t run while AOC should…
