Couldn’t put it better myself. Very glad to see this collaborative work on #wheat published. Huge thank you to the whole team for the great work, commitment and collaboration!!👇👇👇

10 years after first field trial. Wheat ELF3 directly regulates flowering time, independent of clock function. ELF3 also functions in the #wheat #circadian clock & ELF3 transcripts peak at dawn in wheat, rather than dusk as in Arabidopsis. 1/n academic.oup.com/plphys/advance…

@nomad421 @MichaelSLinden Not having $100m had not given this much thought but “buy, borrow, die” is apparently a thing. Was an enlightening article on this topic back in June - America’s rich never sell their assets. How should they be taxed? economist.com/finance-and-ec… from The Economist

@MichaelSLinden A higher capital gains tax can make a lot of sense. However, I cannot understamd the legitimacy of a tax on *unrealized* capital gains.

@paganforge Shorthand code for a variable base. Its gonna crash many automation pipelines that dont have an exception flag to scan for invalid letters. So dumb.

@pmoyniha @vikasnavaratna In addition to various suggestions above you may also try OMAbrowser tools, e.g. API, Fastmapping to target species or genome pairs. Recognising it is rarely simple 1:1 situation…

Is there anyone out there that can point me towards a simple way to take a list of genes (over 1000) from organism A and list the orthologs in organism B?

@ChenxinLi2 @ATinyGreenCell could it be the opposite? I.e. that your tap water is toxic for this species. I had the experience of using tap water successfully for hydroponics (common bean) in Leeds, UK but same setup in Potsdam, Germany led to root death. Switching to DI solved it.

Roots regenerated from stem cutting in DI water after about a month. Catharanthus is not very regenerative. The only condition that makes it root in my hands is DI water. I am curious about the metabolite profiles in water regenerated roots vs soil grown roots.

Déjà-vu. Going to have to stop booking the 17:18. Again quietly cancelled without any info and (hopefully) boarded direct to the 17:36. Was there a 17:18 train? Are we transferring to the 17:36? @LeShuttle_Help #LeShuttle #Eurotunnel #delay
MattHannah@_Matt_Hannah

On more recent experiences I’d agree with the first statement but the second is plainly false since you seem to have quietly cancelled the 17:18 train. What’s wrong with a bit of transparency on which trains are running or not? @LeShuttle #eurotunnel

@LabMutwil GEO datasets was already where most were deposited so a decent set of the most common species together with AND "in situ oligonucleotide"[Platform Technology Type] should get majority

@_Matt_Hannah Yes, but the different microarray platforms (Affy ATH1, and others) for each species are difficult to reconcile... any good places to look?

@lpachter Interesting use case indeed. I find also noteworthy that X policy to not preview links means I noticed this first on #bluesky despite following you and @strnr on both. Although volume may likely contribute to my n = 1 anecdote ;-)

Science has been moving very fast, but it's about to move MUCH faster. In this example, Gemini compiles an up-to-date list of GWAS variants from the literature. youtube.com/watch?v=sPiOP_…

And bonus points to spot the AI errors in the image of “sunrise over wheat and OSR growing in Cambridgeshire” Even less farmers than scientists over there 😂

Since someone added the oddly drawn multiplication sign to the noise:science ratio on here, I decided to also check out the alternative on bluesky. Find my username in profile to follow there. bsky.app/profile/mattha…
