God has used @JohnPiper to draw me to himself more than anyone else (aside from my family). In the early 2000s, I discovered and devoured his book, Desiring God. In fact, the book made such an impact on my life that I began to consider surrendering to full-time ministry. When I learned he held an annual conference in Minneapolis, I made plans to attend and pray about God’s call on my life. Several months later, I sat in an auditorium in Minneapolis with tears running down my face as he preached about Jesus. I surrendered to ministry that very day. Grateful to God for the opportunity to hear him preach again tonight at #t4g23.

September is Law Enforcement Appreciation Month. These are the EMS, Fire, LMPD, and Metro Safe employees who first responded the day of the Old National Shooting. We are forever in debt to those who run to the chaos and keep our society safe.

It certainly was for me and I’m grateful for that ministry and those at Sooner that allowed me to mess up, but also to grow. Here’s to 10 more!

My uncle Bill who was on that council and has gone to be with the Lord often said that if Sooner was only going to be one thing he wished the Lord would use it to be a launching pad for younger pastors.

10 years ago today I was ordained at Sooner Baptist Church ⛪️ I often look through the Bible I was given as a gift from my ordination council, and the certificate of ordination. Many of the men have since gone to be with the Lord.
