love the idea of a press alert from burberry about a celebrity they paid to wear the brand going to a cafe that has their own branding on it .......... what are we even doing?

Some personal news. For real. I’m doing one of these. Deep breath… After 12 years at The Wall Street Journal, I’m leaving. Twelve! I’m starting my own consumer-tech media company, building a new home with the same mission I've always had: help real people navigate the tech (and AI) changing their lives. I’m so excited and so terrified! I can’t wait to start building and hiring. If you want to follow along (and be first to hear what’s next), sign up at the link below and subscribe on YouTube. No holding small, puffy microphones. I promise. Probably. It would make for a great exit story if I said I was leaving the Journal because of some big fallout—and the office printer system slowly poisoned me. The Journal changed my life. I’ve learned from the best journalists in the business, made lifelong friends and was given the freedom to take risks and make at least six stipples of myself—and one of my dog. Thank you to the many people I can’t possibly list here and to everyone who watched my WSJ videos, read the columns, argued with me in the comments and made this the most fun job in the world.

Really inspired by the Olivia Nuzzi case. I love the idea of having a whole successful career, to the point where losing it is a big spectacle, and still being only 32 years old. Could never happen in the UK. Here she'd still be turning press releases into news stories for Dazed.

A superb piece by @sarahrlnrd about the rise and fall of Teen Vogue. It really captures what made the publication unique and important—why its loss is so strongly felt by other journalists and its loyal readers. cjr.org/feature/the-tr…

Wrote about the issues with LFW this time around- from Dilara Findikoglu and the unsafe overcrowding, to why international buyers and journalists are still struggling with access to shows and designers because of PR problems. glossy.co/fashion/luxury…

🚨 BBC just dropped the diplomatic equivalent of a slap in the face: dissecting Trump’s entire unhinged UN rant line by line.

Topshop, Blank Street and Nike add their names to a growing list of brands launching magazines. For some print media as marketing does a good job to expand their brand world. Any other examples of brands launching magazines?

This is the most boring NYFW in recent memory. Too many designers are making nice trousers and sort-of-interesting tops for upper-middle-class women on the go, who find meaning through owning a few vases interesting enough to be called “ceramics.” wapo.st/3Kns14j

If a media company wanted to hire @Emily_Sundberg at this point, it would have to match her annualized subs income with the salaries of … 3 senior writers? (2 if you’re the Atlantic)

@Lei_Takanashi In Canada, “bankruptcy protection” means a company isn’t shutting down, it’s hitting pause on debt collectors so it can regroup, restructure, and try to get through it.

Coach CEO Todd Kahn said to @glossyco the end of de minimis will add $53 million in duties next year. “It’s real. It’s impactful.” This is how Tapestry is planning to absorb a $160 million tariff hit, while still betting big on Gen Z growth. glossy.co/fashion/coach-…
