My friend is getting into Resident Evil and she hasn’t played a single one of them, she ended up just watching them on YouTube instead… Is there something wrong with this franchise? why do new fans refuse to play them…

@Eggonthereg You can get them looking much better on PC with mods, still the same method just more strands and denser layers.

In GTA 5, the technique used for rendering fur on animals is also used (albeit tweaked) to render grass. The technique is simply drawing multiple layers, which each being slightly larger (offset by normals, which slightly droop) The grass shader is thus aptly named "grass_fur"

The chiaroscuro lighting is simply lost. The fundamental misunderstanding of intentionality while crafting light and color has been the biggest bane of the modern remake trend. Oblivion remake has many such cases where faithful 3D/2D assets get betrayed by the lighting changes.

@Bolesni_ste Doesn't seem like a render to me, but I kinda doubt this is running on console hardware.

@FR3NKD If you are trully a game designer, you would notice that those are renders and not gameplay :)

@TafferKing451 I've seen other, supposed, leaked screenshots that seem to keep the more vibrant greens, I think for whatever reason all of these were taken at dusk? Like this one still looks a little on the yellow side but there's definitely more green going on

Oblivion was one of the few RPGs that had vibrant, green forests. Why are they brown now?

@AboveAs13564 The high setting enables Lumen RT for reflections and global illumination so it kicks up the requirements a bit. You can just drop both those settings to Medium and it'll run well on older cards.

@Skyw_333 A focus on player freedom doesn't necessarily mean it's open-world. Could be that the game just gives you the freedom to accomplish objectives however you want, without much or any guidance.
