BREAKING: Microsoft confirms a major Windows 11 release that focuses on performance, reliability, bug fixes, and bids goodbye to forced Windows Updates + unwanted Copilot integration!
Microsoft is seriously and sincerely improving Windows 11 by listening to top feedbacks:
- Movable taskbar confirmed.
- You can now pause Windows Updates for as long as you want. No forced shutdown/reboot when updates paused.
- Windows Update is moving PCs to a single monthly reboot.
- Faster File Explorer, reduced memory footprint, faster Windows Search, better OS performance, and other bug fixes
- Scaling back Copilot in Windows 11, start with apps like Notepad
- Moving Windows core experience to WinUI (native framework), dropping WebView/React in features like the Start menu
- Fewer notifications (disruptions), improved drivers, and more.
How do you want Microsoft to improve Windows 11? 👇

@JAMnewsCaucasus Pro-Russian regime? This stupid narrative is what makes you useless during elections in Georgia.

Georgia in reverse: how showcase of post-Soviet democratisation turned into a country with 'functionally pro-Russian' regime
Over the past three years, Georgia has followed a path that few could have predicted.
A country that received EU candidate status in December 2023 has now effectively frozen its European integration.
A state once seen as a model of democratic reform in the post-Soviet space is adopting Russia-style laws and jailing people for standing on pavements during peaceful protests.
And a government that until recently professed European values has become politically untouchable in Brussels and Washington.
How did this happen? And, more importantly, can it still be stopped?

Psst
Who can predict the $BTC bottom now? 😉
The closest 10 will get juicy subs!

We found the best crypto account on CT. It has 33 followers (for now). (The second spot is incredible - read on) And we just gave him a lifetime subscription because they embarrassed everyone else in our prediction contest. The unfortunate truth is that we lied, we promised a lifetime subscription... To the one who could predict the $BTC TOP @ 126 199$ (@binance) But we'll also have to reward some other insane calls deserving a reward themselves! @m090009 @loading_time10 you can try writing native code for snapshotting it there are number of optimizations like reusing buffers instead of creating new UIImage on every frame you can use CVPixelBuffer.
English

@_alexandrius @loading_time10 That must've been disappointing, I was thinking of applying the shader on some dynamic areas and then ran into this issue, which was the sad part.

They thought Skia shaders on React Native Views were impossible... well, they were wrong (partly) ⚙️
I somehow found a way to use shaders on react-native it work

1️⃣ Pure eye-candy demo
2️⃣ Practical app integration
3️⃣ Subtle production-ready version
All running in Expo — zero native code.
Heading to @wcandillon's liquid glass video next to, as his approach might be even cleaner!
Which feels most useful in real apps? (buttons, cards, backgrounds, other) Tell me below 👇
as I've been thinking of ways to practically use in apps.

@m090009 @loading_time10 I actually went ahead through the trouble and tested 2 cases:
1. SwiftUI wrapping UIKIT + shader -> simply doesn't render
2. Snapshotting every frame whole screen -> Best I got was 40fps on simulator.
Snapshotting can work on smaller areas
English

@_alexandrius @loading_time10 Yeah I agree, that's why till now I could only apply shaders to static content, it'll be very tricky and choppy as you say for dynamic interactions.
English

@m090009 @loading_time10 @wcandillon you mentioned there's efficient way of doing so in your LiquidGlass video, does the claim still hold? UIKit needs to basically needs to be redrawn for snapshotting purposes. Already rendered data isn't accessible from window server
English

@m090009 @loading_time10 It's glorious nonetheless. Unfortunately there are no proper solutions for this on iOS. Snapshotting views is extremely slow process (relatively speaking) and doing that 60 times per second definitely is not possibility right now.

Coming from cross-platform development, there are a lot of things where Android really sucks at. Like Media APIs. Or Camera. Especially Camera. (not talking about Jetpack/CameraX, that's getting quite good).
But it still not having blur or good transparency composition APIs is genuinely insane, a blur isn't that uncommon...
