@DaveShapi @AlexanderTw33ts We really need to stop talking about number of jobs created unless people are willing to address wages. AI is deflationary.

Big day for AI infrastructure. Jensen guided at least $1T in cumulative Blackwell and Rubin chip revenue through 2027 at GTC. Meta signed up to $27B with Nebius for dedicated cloud capacity starting early 2027. The capex commitments keep getting bigger.

The articles that declare that people are working *more* due to AI isn't some counterintuitive insight that somehow goes against job displacement. It's part of the process of ultimately removing them. You are a cost. With AI you are now expected to do more to justify your six figure salary. You have a finite capacity based on time and energy constraints. Eventually the efficiency scale tips and you become the bottleneck. These half baked articles do nothing but keep people's heads in the sand and hurt their ability to handle difficult roads ahead.

@Scobleizer There is a possible bridge to what Elon describes. It's not taxing AI or billionaires. It's in the form of infrastructure capex. And the capital is already earmarked just misdirected. And when aligned properly it accelerates America's buildout and provides a cushion for people.

Elon’s dream might seem ridiculous. And it is. In today’s context. This will require all billionaires to share with everyone. Chances that would happen? Not very likely. But we should put together a pitch to try to convince them. A group of them meets for lunch in Dallas every month. I bet we could get a slot if our pitch was good enough. What do they get in return? How about a statue in Times Square to start? I believe we could convince them. Or at least enough of them to try a few things together. I watched the founder of @stoke_space pitch this particular lunch group in Dallas a couple of years ago. A friend invited me who is always invited to this lunch. He pretty much made that kind of pitch to get his rocket company to the next stage. Slightly different: his pitch was to save their lifestyles by building defenses against hypersonic missiles. And it worked. By the way, hey Elon does talking to an AI all night constitute “a job?” I believe it does. I built a new way to read X by doing so. Will turn that on real soon now. Brayden and I are meeting in the morning to see if we can launch it this week. My new job is talking to AIs and in my case it is voluntary. Put my own money into it. If it brings me a high income I will be impressed. I don’t expect it to survive long. If I can build such a thing an engineer at X can too. Hey @grok does @nikitabier still hate lists? Prediction: he won’t after he sees what my AI did with them.

@_kaitodev @garrytan @karpathy All jobs will be optional. There will be universal high income.

the zirp era created a weird implicit social contract which was that if the company is healthy then jobs were safe. that contract is now gone. the replacement is closer to the old industrial logic which is that labor is a cost to be minimized at every point in the cycle & now with ai that is clearly on the table to the tune of at least 17k peeps at meta being chopped.

Palantir CEO Alex Karp believes Ai will reduce the political and economic power of white collar female (mostly Democrat) voters: "If you are going to disrupt the economic and political power significantly of one party space, highly educated, often female voters who vote mostly Democrat ... and you feel like that's going to work out politically, you're in an insane asylum" "You cannot have this technology disrupts humanity's trained, largely Democratic voters, and makes their economic power less, and increases the power, economic power of vocationally trained working class, often male voters."

NVIDIA/Jensen on how AI is a five-layer cake: "Energy → chips → infrastructure → models → applications. Every successful application pulls on every layer beneath it, all the way down to the power plant that keeps it alive. We have only just begun this buildout. We are a few hundred billion dollars into it. Trillions of dollars of infrastructure still need to be built."
