. @_dawnwillbreak is one of the campaigners behind our #ASafeHome campaign. She was brave enough to not only share her experiences with us but to stand before a room of MPs and tell them her story too. It was worth it.

Why is burning down an LGBTQ+ nightclub full of people not considered a terror offense but holding up signs is?

@GMB_union Now apply this logic to the ongoing pandemic - unchecked COVID spread means all workplaces are gravely dangerous all year. Demand safe workplaces for workers - FFP2/3 respirators, air filtration, and upgraded ventilation. Anything less is a violation of their rights and safety.

Amazon must temporarily close their Coventry warehouse after a TB outbreak. Preventing a major outbreak is more important than Amazon's profit margins. Workers must be put onto full sick pay.

i have no desire to be rich so i can buy a rolex or a lamborghini. i want to be rich so i can control my time and go to the gym at 3pm on a monday. sit at a cafe and relax for an hour on a rainy afternoon. so i can cook meals at home with fresh ingredients. spend on my family and friends without worrying about a budget. that's my idea of a rich life, not the fake consumerist idea shoved down my throat.

@mayaisfiya So the US has been ignoring RECORD syphilis & congenital syphilis for the last 3 years. I’m so glad you’re negative, but this is a great educational opportunity. The U.S. is reporting UNPRECEDENTED record STIs in general, not just syphilis. Beware all.
Laura Miers@LauraMiers

The world never seems to hear about the grotesque human rights violations that are unfolding in the U.S. in real time. These articles are from March 2024 & May 2024. The U.S. has been ignoring RECORD syphilis & congenital syphilis, & we actually ran out of the drug that treats it in 2023.

Mia died on a children’s psychiatric ward in Sheffield in January 2024. She had been sectioned after what doctors described as an ‘acute psychotic episode’. Instead of asking what else might be happening in her brain and immune system that caused sudden onset of total behavioural and emotional change, plus many concerning physical symptoms, clinicians decided there was ‘no underlying physical cause’ and passed her on to mental health services. We now know – because someone finally did the right tests after she died – that Mia had autoimmune encephalitis: a form of brain inflammation in which the immune system attacks the brain, causing dramatic neuropsychiatric symptoms including agitation, seizures and changes in personality and behaviour that are usually totally out of character. The coroner heard that if a lumbar puncture and further neurological investigations had been done before she was transferred to the Becton Centre, there was a chance her condition could have been identified and treated. The jury concluded that the failure to do that ‘possibly contributed’ to her death. Mia’s mother, Chloe, says she believes her daughter was simply dismissed and pushed into mental health services as quickly as possible. I believe her. Totally. I think she is right. And I know Mia is not an isolated case, because we have already watched this happen to other young women – including Lucy Dawson, who I had the privilege of talking to and writing about for my book in 2022, ‘Sexy But Psycho’. Full article is now in my stories and on my blog.

Why are resident doctors going on strike?  While patients wait longer to be seen in A&E, too many qualified doctors who could treat them can’t get a training job.

i hate doctors so much you literally have to manipulate them into doing their jobs. i’ve found doctors take me seriously when i act like i am unintelligent and uninformed. they don’t like patients using medical terms. only they are allowed to know those words
harley ⚢@clowneatingpig

Reddit is so horrifying bc you can go to a sub for people with health problems and see tons of people desperate for help, strategizing on how to be taken seriously, and then you go to a doctor sub and it's full of professionals talking about hysterical women and blue hair.
