@ConceptDairy @annetted1234 I’m sorry to say that I find most Irish supermarket bread awful. Tasteless. Someone should start a real bread bakery. There’s a market for it.

@dublin_damo Check out Las Tapas, great menu and atmosphere, you’ll swear you’re back in Spain! Or if you want to go Greek, Yamas is excellent. 🇬🇷

Everything in Greystones is 'gourmet' this or 'artisan' that, with the eye-watering prices to match.

@spacehuman @BuzzingPop There were a lot of Irish people in Liverpool at the time and they were often described in a derogatory manner as “gypsies”, i.e. people of no fixed abode and darker than the traditional upper class British society. Yes, Colin Farrell would have made a great Heathcliff.

@BuzzingPop This is what they meant by ‘black Irish’. Heathcliff looked like this. He was not a ‘person of color’ like African. Idiots.

‘Wuthering Heights’ director Emerald Fennell responds to controversy over casting Jacob Elordi, whose character in the book is a person of color: “I think the thing is everyone who loves this book has such a personal connection to it and so you can only ever kind of make the movie that that you sort of imagined yourself when you read it. I don’t know, I think I was sort of focusing on the kind of sado-masochistic elements of it… that’s the great thing about this movie is that it could be made every year and it would still be so moving and so interesting.” (@THR)

@GabbyMonaghan @Independent_ie “Irish writing has always had a particular texture – the rhythm of Irish English, the way dialogue sits on the page, the unexpected word choice that's absolutely right.” Super article Gabrielle.

@DonaldClarke63 Sure, reinventions can be brilliant e.g. Romeo + Juliet. I’ve always had a theory that Heathcliff is Mr Earnshaw’s illegitimate son, hard to get my head around this new Cathy is his half-sister.

@OHanlonEilis Great suggestions but I can’t record BBC anymore on new Vodafone set box. I could use a VPN on laptop but really want to access iPlayer on television. So much good stuff on BBC late at night.

My guide to the best (and worst) TV over Christmas, if you're stuck for something to watch (and avoid). Comes with the usual sprinkling of sarcasm, so those of an easily-triggered disposition should probably avoid. independent.ie/entertainment/…

@slinehan1 After many years on Strictly, Katya was finally paired with somebody who could match her energy, creativity, brilliant choreography, she is a genius. Thank you and Lewis for the most iconic, memorable, historic moments on Strictly, ever.

Highlights of Lewis and Katya's exit interview on #ItTakesTwo just now. In her 10 years on this show I've never seen Katya this heartbroken, it hurts that she's blaming herself for Lewis going home. 😭 These two clearly love each other a lot. Lewis is a true gent. 💔 #Strictly
