having traveled solo to 30+ countries, here's what i learned about making friends in a new place: - go to events alone. no one actually cares that you came by yourself as much as you think they do. - find a third space for recurring hobbies. dance, gym, barry's.. showing up consistently is how strangers become familiar faces. - follow up. don't wait weeks. if you click with someone, send them a message within a few days and ask them to hang out. - say yes to things outside your comfort zone. worst case, you don't like it and never go again. best case, it introduces you to some amazing people. - tell people you're new and looking for friends. don’t be afraid to ask to be invited to stuff. people can't invite you if they don’t know you’re looking. so much of making friends is simply making yourself easier to find. the more you put yourself in the path of other people, the more likely the right ones are to find you. 🫶

One year in SF turned my entire closet into tech merch. I’ve got open ai sweaters, modal shirts, applied compute hats, supabase socks, paypal scarfs… I can’t justify buying a normal shirt from a real store when I don’t need to but I also don’t love wearing agentic swags around
