Back in Japan after a year! One thing I've realised running a solo studio. You don't really switch off fully, especially when you're travelling. But l've grown to like it. Working from different places, different setups. Keeps it interesting.

AI for Low-Pesticide Agriculture @garrytan Farmers are stuck in a bad loop: use more chemicals, get diminishing results, pay more, take on more risk. And they can't just stop, because if pests win, crops die. AI that can identify individual weeds in real time, robotics that can treat one plant instead of blanketing a field, and new biological solutions mean this problem finally looks solvable.

@heygeorgekal yeah noticed that too when vibecoding. Opus got nerfed.

GPT 5.5 is much better in maintaining architectural consistency and observing contracts than Opus. I’ve had it review plans produced by Opus in a large codebase and I’m impressed with the gaps it identifies and the improvements it recommends. Going to fully switch in May.

A designer knows when to break the grid. AI doesn’t even know why the grid exists. That instinct is what separates craft from prompting.👀

The single most useful skill I’ve developed over the years. Learning to think deeply about problems and systems. What problem are we solving and for whom are we solving it? Where do flows break? How could an interaction be 1% better? What edge cases is nobody else seeing yet? How does this feature help our customer solve their problem? etc. Thinking deeply forces clarity, and clarity is rarely talked about. Everything else: tools, frameworks, trends come and go. But the ability to think deeply and clearly understand something is a skill that is transferrable to any part of your life not just design.

Trading platforms show you P&L. Veritrade shows you what your broker actually recorded.
