@zappomatic If you start your journey in zone 1 after 4pm then you are charged a peak fare regardless of how many zones you travel through.

@_littlecreature If you finish your journey in zone 1 it’s an off peak fare, if you continue to another zone via zone 1 you get stung for a peak fare. This is Horley to Leicester Square as an example

The introduction of contactless to some Thameslink rail stations means off peak now starts at 1900 (It used be anytime after 10am) to bring it into line with Tfl fares. It means passengers are held at the barriers by beleaguered @TLRailUK staff until 1901. Clearly not ….

@zappomatic Regardless of whether you get off in a station in zone 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 (& the more zones you cross, the more expensive the peak fare is). That is what I feel is wrong. It doesn't encourage tourism or for people who live around the UK to visit the London Area.

@zappomatic I know Hammersmith isn't central London (I went to the Palais in the 1990s!). The point I was making is touch your card at a London Terminus Underground Station (Waterloo, Paddington, Liverpool St, etc) & you get charged a peak fare during the evening.

@zappomatic @BBCTomEdwards If I arrive into a london terminus from just outside London & go on to Hammersmith by tube it's charged as peak fare during the evening rush hour.
