Guys, believe it or not, Emfuleni Municipality last verified whether they have ghost employees or not in 2021! They don’t have an ongoing day-to-day verification process like many institutions do. As ActionSA we are dealing with this currently.

Remain vigilant following an increase in WhatsApp account takeover incidents. There are multiple complaints from victims who are being targeted through this method. Victims are contacted by an individual posing as a known or trusted contact. The individual requests to schedule an online meeting and provides a link. Once the link is accessed, a verification code is sent to the victim’s phone. The perpetrator then requests this code under the false pretense that it is required to join the meeting. After the code is shared, control of the WhatsApp account is taken over. The suspect then impersonates the victim and sends messages to contacts requesting urgent financial assistance. Friends and family, believing the request is legitimate, proceed to transfer funds. The public is urged to exercise extreme caution when receiving unexpected links or requests for verification codes, even from known contacts, as this method is being widely used to compromise accounts and facilitate financial loss. #Scams

[FORMER MIDWIFE FOUND GUILTY OF CRIMES COMMITTED AGAINST PREGNANT WOMEN] The Pretoria High Court found the owner and former midwife of You and Me Midwife-led Maternity Care, Yolande Maritz Fouchee (48) from Murrayfield, GUILTY of culpable homicide of 9 days old Noah Von Kloeg, 6 counts of assault, fraud, employment of an unqualified person, and 5 counts of assault involving a legal duty. Between 2019 to 2020, Fouchee would administer functions as a midwife, such as running pregnancy check-ups for pregnant women and assist them to give birth at Fouchee’s practice in Murrayfield. During the pregnancy and birthing process of those women, Fouchee would overlook pregnancy complications in respect of her patients and not refer them to the appropriate specialists. Fouchee would also say to the pregnant women that she is capable of performing normal to low-risk birthing. During the birthing process, Fouchee would offer the pregnant mothers water mixed with Cytotec or Oxytocin in order to induce and augment their labour without their knowledge. On 03 April 2019, one of the victims’ labour was induced. She gave birth, and 9 days later her baby died due to the complications overlooked by Fouchee. In 2020, Fouchee was reported to the South African Nursing Council by the victims, and criminal cases against her were opened at Silverton police station. After an investigation by the police, Fouchee was arrested on 24 June 2024 at her place of residence. In court, Fouchee pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against her and denied committing the offences. However, the State Prosecutor, Adv Jennifer Cronje presented compelling evidence by Fouchee’s daughter, the victims and Professor Priya Soma-Pillay as well as Professor Izelle Smuts, both experts from Steve Biko Academic Hospital who compiled detailed medical reports about ante-natal care, labour and delivery as well as neonatal emergency care proved the state’s case beyond reasonable doubt. The matter has been postponed to 25 May 2026 for sentencing proceedings.

In 2009, I walked into @StandardBankZA at Boulders Midrand with a simple plan. Save R500 every month. No touching it. No thinking about it. Just discipline on autopilot. First year at SABC as a broadcast technician. First real income. First attempt at being financially responsible. So I did what any serious saver would do. I created a system where I could forget the money even existed. Opened the account at the branch. Back when deposit slips still had authority. To activate it, they told me to deposit cash at the ATM. Fair enough. I deposited the money into what I believed was my brand new savings account. Got my paperwork. Felt official. Felt grown. Then I automated everything. Monthly transfers from FNB. No emotions. Just consistency. Four or five months later, curiosity got the better of me. I went back to the same branch to check my progress. I expected pride. Maybe even a small internal speech about discipline. Instead, I got: “There’s no account under your name.” At first I thought they were joking. I said, “Kanjani? I opened it here. I’ve been depositing every month.” They checked again. “You only had a Mzansi account. It’s closed.” Now the story starts to feel like a prank. Because I had receipts. I had a memory. And I had money leaving my FNB account like clockwork. I tried to escalate it. Meetings were set. Or at least… supposed to be. One bank manager never showed up. On my way back from that meeting, the envelope with all my paperwork disappeared. Taxi ride. One moment it’s there. Next moment… gone. No evidence. No account. No money trail I could prove. Case closed. Not by resolution. By exhaustion

The respect I have for Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga as the Chair of #MadlangaCommission is immeasurable, for the way he guards and ensures, consciously without apology, that African names are correctly spelled and pronounced. He was pointing out that Commissioner Umashi Dlamini's surname is spelled without the "h" in the documents, that it's supposed to "Dhlamini". Shame, Commissioner Spies who was strongly reprimanded last time for saying "Makhwanazi", said "Chair, I'm happy to say this time I'm correct, it is Dlamini". 😊

EXCLUSIVE Several senior police officers, including Generals, have been arrested in Pretoria on corruption related charges. It is linked to the Medicare Tshwane District contract. Sources say the arrested cops were part of the bid committee. We also believe that a former senior employee of Vusi “Cat” Matlala is behind bars. They are being detained at a police station in the capital. All those arrested will appear in court tomorrow. @pule_jones
