Classical chess nowadays is just trying to play a bad line to confuse your opponent so that you can maybe get 3-4 stockfish moves when he needs to think on his own Freestyle is skill from the first move. You also dont learn new ideas from classical anymore

To me the @GRENKEChess showed that Freestyle with the classical time control, leads to incredibly interesting chess. I understand most disagree, but look at the games even so. They are titanic struggles, mixing strategic complexity, with unusual tactics. Chess at its finest!

When there are complicated only moves (the only drawing or better line after castling was a long long sequence of only moves) it is incredibly hard to draw. I doubt even Magnus would be able to. Its easy to hate on Hikaru, but do it when its deserved.

@andaliferopulos I took screenshots from lichess yesterday evening. Yeah I see the disparity from lichess scores and on chessresults. I think what they did was probably put the wrong player on the wrong color in the broadcast page on lichess. Mistakes in broadcast happen. I admit my mistake.

Round 1 of Grenke open and Freestyle events are showing how strong expert players are today. I can't imagine a situation 50 years ago where MANY 2100 level players (not 1 instance just check the results) would just beat 2600 GM's in both normal chess and in 960. #chesspunks
