Open source is dead. That’s not a statement we ever thought we’d make. @calcom was built on open source. It shaped our product, our community, and our growth. But the world has changed faster than our principles could keep up. AI has fundamentally altered the security landscape. What once required time, expertise, and intent can now be automated at scale. Code is no longer just read. It is scanned, mapped, and exploited. Near zero cost. In that world, transparency becomes exposure. Especially at scale. After a lot of deliberation, we’ve made the decision to close the core @calcom codebase. This is not a rejection of what open source gave us. It’s a response to what risks AI is making possible. We’re still supporting builders, releasing the core code under a new MIT-licensed open source project called cal. diy for hobbyists and tinkerers, but our priority now is simple: Protecting our customers and community at all costs. This may not be the most popular call. But we believe many companies will come to the same conclusion. My full explanation below ↓

quem conhece a Calcom sabe que eles sempre carregaram o banner do OSS
o código deles era aberto, literalmente tudo. como eles faziam dinheiro? eles operavam assim:
- se você é um indivíduo, o produto é gratuito
- se você é uma empresa, pode fazer o self hosting (mas também pode pagar a solução de cloud deles)
agora eles decidiram fechar o projeto, alegando que disponibilizar o código "dá chance para ataques massivos de IA em busca de vulnerabilidades"
essa decisão é MUITO impactante pra indústria do OSS. outras empresas vão seguir os mesmos passos,
e meu chute é que a @gumroad é a próxima

unpopular opinion: 16GB is plenty if software engineers actually cared about memory efficiency. chrome eating 4GB for 12 tabs is not a hardware problem its a software disgrace. docker consuming 2GB idle is not a feature its laziness. we live in an era where people optimize every single token to save $0.001 on API costs but happily ship electron apps that eat 500MB to display a todo list. if the industry treated RAM the way we treat inference compute - obsessively measuring every byte - 16GB would feel luxurious. the hardware isnt the problem, the software is @adxtyahq

Pior que eu nem discordo que o código ficou MUITO mais acessivel com AI, e pessoas que não sabem programar tem potencial de construir coisas que antes levariam meses e ou anos.
O que me irrita é os caça tonto que vende curso LIXO, e ganha grana em cima do sonho de quem ta tentando pegar atalho para mudar de vida.
Nem te conheço, não tenho ideia do conteúdo que tu produz ou faz, mas está 100% dentro do estereótipo de pilantra, e se não é um pilantra, não deveria se portar como tal.

Ubuntu is removing a huge number of supported file systems from their shipping version of the GRUB boot loader. LVM, LUKS, btrfs, hfsplus, xfs, zfs, & mdraid. All are being removed and will no longer be available for booting systems. Once again, tried and true code is being tossed out. This time in favor of systemd for booting. They are also disabling images (like JPG) in GRUB. Because, assumedly, Ubuntu hates joy. discourse.ubuntu.com/t/streamlining…
