@joemccann Sounds similar to differentiable logic gate networks, just way less efficient
English

This is actually insane.
Dude hard-coded a WebAssembly (WASM) interpreter into the weights of a transformer, losslessly.
In essence, a computer is running inside a LLM that can actually run computations, not infer or guess a calculation like most do today.
Christos Tzamos@ChristosTzamos
1/4 LLMs solve research grade math problems but struggle with basic calculations. We bridge this gap by turning them to computers. We built a computer INSIDE a transformer that can run programs for millions of steps in seconds solving even the hardest Sudokus with 100% accuracy

i find it fucking hilarious how Apple "failing" at AI is now the exact reason they're about to win it:
- watched everyone else burn $1.4T+ building models... then picked the winner (gemini) to use for... $1B
- while everyone fights to grow users, apple flips a switch and 2.5 billion devices get AI siri tmrw.
- $150B to splurge on the device / app layer. zero competition (because everyones spent their cash).
- while openAI charges $200/mo subscriptions, Apple lets you run models on-device (cheaper, faster, private, personal)
- while openAI struggles to build an AI device, Apple just dropped 5 powered by the best AI chips for hand-held devices.
they "lost" the model race because they didn't need to win it in the first place
greatest to (accidentally) ever do it.

@midascabal Open source is an economic weapon. Dominate a market, drop a free, open alternative, and competitors hit the open-source wall before they can even play.
English

Here is why the AI bubble will implode.
China is using a totally different approach to AI:
- open source, mass scale, cheap
The West approach to AI?
- close source, private, profit driven
China will mass produce AI and export it everywhere, like their products.
This will be a race to the bottom where the West can't compete.
With that, the inflated AI valuations in the West and their stock market will crash.
Current Chinese AI is on par with the best in the West, but 8x cheaper and open source.
You are not ready.

I don't see proper water happening any time soon with a server-authoritative engine design + ECS on top. Water propagation would cause massive amounts of block updates that would kill the server. Maybe Riot saw this massive design flaw in their engine, which led to their decision with the engine rewrite.

I've created an infinite terrain generator using cellular automata: maierfelix.github.io/strata-voxel/

@sampavlovic Sam you can't just take pictures of Sponza on a foggy day and get away with it
English

@smart_poly @MaesterSilvio At this point I’d bet the donation money is funding lawyers and LLM subscriptions, not actual code
English

@MaesterSilvio He’s using his lawyer for more important purposes- like sending small creators a cease and desist letter.

@_x1m4 This is absolutely brilliant. I have so many questions. To DAG or not to DAG? To ray trace each pixel or march the DAG per voxel?
English

@ankkala @gdechichi Didn't get around writing an article yet, but a few people on the voxelgamedev discord server wrote their own implementation and shared their results
English

@_x1m4 @gdechichi how does it work? can i read more on it?
English

@gdechichi It's calculated in world-space with a new GI technique specifically developed for this game called CAGI
English

@_x1m4 The sound is great. Are you using some kind of raytracing for the sound waves?
English

@_stainless0_ Depends on if the implementation supports 64bit unsigned integers
English

@_x1m4 You don't need pumps, pressurizing the atmosphere inside the base is enough. With a proper breathing mixture and acclimation humans can go well bellow 300m. It's called saturation diving and I believe it's mostly used in the oil/gas industry.
