@0x45o Or maybe the GPU 's running the simulation are limited and it's a way of managing the bandwidth by taking a third of us offline each day? 🤔

@0x45o I think it's the body that needs rest and the brain to consolidate. I don't think consciousness needs it as such. I've been awake inside my sleeping body a few times and still feel rested.

I don't like that stage either. I like my code to be clean and well organised. It's not good enough that it works. Even if no one else will ever see it. I've started again many times. It's often quicker because I've learned more about what the best solution is and can prompt more accurately. I have experimented with pulling a spec from the code. Passing that to another ai for refinement and then sending that off to the dev ai. I also keep a chat open in cursor exclusively for architecture. That way I have a fresh context of how the thing should be built and regularly have it assess the code base and refactor. Opus is good for this. I use composer for main development work.

I’m getting to the point with one of the projects I work on where the complexity of AI slop is becoming a real issue. While I can still happily prompt the agent to add x feature and it will do so and it will likely work perfectly, the code is just getting too complex and fragmented. Agents love to copy and paste and keeping patterns DRY is a real challenge. The agent will start diverging all those copy and pastes until you’ve got loads of similar but slightly different blocks of logic. Again it all still works and solves the problem I’m after. But I just can’t get any kind of consistency anymore, the code is a mess and I just don’t have a handle on it. I want a clean unified architecture but agents just code with tunnel vision. The project is now too big and complex for an agent to fully reason with and too big and complex for me to reason with. The only real solution is a complete rewrite. Maybe this is the way things will go. Code will just become disposable. I don’t really want to care about the code and to be honest I don’t but I do care about consistency and maintainability and the AI slop is hurting those very things I do care about. I know some will say “I’m holding it wrong”, use x,y,z skill, tool whatever and already use tools and anti slop skills, plans, docs, etc but the outcome is the same. Vibe coding something into existence is truly magical. But turning it into a mature product with months of iterations is painful. I can’t even hand code this thing because I don’t understand the code anymore and I’m too lazy to try and code myself because I’m addicted to AI. So what’s the solution, either start again and accept that’s just the way we have to roll, or just carry on fighting the slop and accept each new feature will take longer to implement than the last. I’m tired. I’m addicted.

I just saw a woman explain why she doesnt do 50/50 on dates and her reasoning gagged me. She said : if i go alone id be paying for my meal, and if go on a date and pay 50/50 id still be paying for my meal so why would i want to get dressed up, spend energy on emotional labor, holding conversations, entertaining my date, if im just gonna pay for my own food anyway? Id rather wear my yoga set and scroll uninterrupted. And couldnt have said that any better!!!

@bryan_johnson We are naked and alone in some lower dimensional prison cut off from the true experience of life. And we know it. We long for that reconnection. How and why I cannot fathom. But there is, for sure, much more to us.

This was the most profound experience of my life. I am stunned beyond comprehension. This molecule is without peer. The 27mg dose opened up what felt like pure consciousness and intelligence. A majestic reveal of existence itself. In all its incomprehensible glory and majesty. It is impossible to explain with words. Whatever you imagine, multiply it by 1,000 and then add infinite width and depth and dimensions. But entrance was not granted without prerequisite. Existence demanded that I submit. That I say yes; without attachment and without condition. Yes to existence; yes to the dissolution of self; yes to release control; yes, to all. My ego registered the ask and panicked. It wanted control. It was desperate for control. It pleaded to escape from the torrent of light and essence that threatened to rip my sanity into chards. The urge to eject was overwhelming. Terror thundered throughout my mind and body. It took everything within me to release. I overcame and was treated with bliss that defies imagination. A euphoria colored with perfect harmony of all things. An orchestra of essence washed over me and swept me up in dance. It was home. The highest aspiration of intelligent life. For some reason, stored and tucked away as the ultimate prize. A single concept emerged in omnipresence: we cannot grok the preciousness of our existence. Yet it is everything we’ve ever wanted and more. The state we long for without knowing it exists. This caused me great pain and heartache. A swell of loyalty and devotion emerged inside me, pledging allegiance to existence. To become a warrior and caretaker of life on earth. To protect at any cost the candle of consciousness that has miraculously emerged in this part of the galaxy. What awaits will wipe all your tears, soothe all your sorrows, and infinitely exceed your wants.

I read posts like this and have to wonder how you live with yourself. Musk has been the most innovative individual on the planet. Taking huge risks. Has really pushed boundaries of what is possible. And you pick on him for where he wasn't accurate. We need more people like him and less like you. What value do you actually offer humanity? How would you perform on that leading edge even if you had the courage to get up from your laptop and try?

This is Tesla’s Battery Day on steroids. And if you’ve been following how that turned out, you should be very skeptical. In September 2020, Musk stood on a stage and promised a revolution in battery manufacturing with the 4680 cell. Tesla was going to ramp to 10 GWh within a year and eventually reach 3 TWh by 2030 — enough for 20 million cars annually. The dry electrode process was going to cut costs by 50%. Five and a half years later, the 4680 program has been a disappointment. Tesla’s own top battery supplier said Elon doesn’t know how to make battery cells. The dry electrode process needed six or seven revisions. It took years longer than promised, and the 3 TWh target is a distant fantasy. Tesla is estimated to be at only about 2% of its original cell manufacturing volume goal. Now Musk wants us to believe he’s going to build a chip fab. Not just any chip fab — the biggest in the world, at 2nm, producing 70% of TSMC’s total output from a single building. Battery cell manufacturing is difficult. Chip fabrication at the leading edge is on another planet of difficulty. TSMC spent $165 billion over years to build six fabs in Arizona, and those won’t reach 2nm production until 2029. A single 2nm fab with 50,000 wafer starts per month costs roughly $28 billion, and it takes about 38 months just to build in the U.S. Tesla has zero semiconductor manufacturing experience. The timing tells the real story. Tesla’s auto business is in freefall — sales declined for the second consecutive year in 2025, with a bloodbath in Europe and its first-ever annual decline in China. SpaceX, by contrast, is about to IPO at a potential $1.5-1.75 trillion valuation. This announcement is clearly designed to attach Tesla, a business in decline, and SpaceX, a business about to go public, to the AI hyperscaler narrative, a boat Musk has already missed with xAI, which he admitted “was not built right” and had to be bailed out by SpaceX. And the cherry on top, or in space, rather, is the plan to put 80% of this compute in orbit. Data centers in space. Powered by solar panels. Launched by Starship. This is the kind of vision that sounds impressive on stage but has essentially zero connection to any near-term business reality, or any possible reality at all, according to most credible experts. The whole thing reeks of desperation. Musk is hyping an 8th-gen AI chip while he still hasn’t delivered on the promises made with the 3rd generation. He’s promising to do in a couple of years what TSMC has spent decades and hundreds of billions of dollars building. We’ve seen this movie before with battery cells, and we know how it ends. electrek.co/2026/03/22/tes…

As a Japanese person, I’m curious what’s the first thing that pops into your head when you think of Japan? 🧐 Like how people think of “nukes” when they think of America or “carpets” when they think of Iran.

@unclebobmartin I don't think it knows what it needs. It's just responding to training data. Put it in a loop and have it test what it thinks it needs and it might come up with something novel and more accurate.

This is what codex believes would be the best language for _IT_ to program in. Here's hello world. (module example/hello (imports) (export main) (fn main (params) (returns String) (effects ()) (requires true) (ensures true) "Hello, world!")) I had it write a compiler for this language that runs on the JVM. It emits byte code. Note the hint of DBC. Note also the lispy syntax. This is what _IT_ said it wanted when I told it that humans didn't need to read it.
