New testimony from Sudan: survivors say Rapid Support Forces executed scores of unarmed men & raped dozens of women & girls as they captured El Fasher. This persistent, widespread violence against civilians constitutes war crimes. All those responsible must be held accountable.

Survivors who escaped #ElFasher in Sudan’s North Darfur State have detailed to Amnesty International how fighters with the Rapid Support Forces (#RSF) executed scores of unarmed men and raped dozens of women and girls as they captured the city: amn.st/60187oBk8 We need the existing arms embargo in #Darfur to extend to the all of Sudan. Arms embargo now ✊

The people of El Fasher have endured the RSF’s brutal 18-month long siege of the city. @amnesty calls on the RSF to: 👉End attacks on civilians & civilian infrastructure 👉Allow humanitarian aid into the city 👉Guarantee safe passage for civilians fleeing violence

El Fasher is at breaking point. People are trapped and fighting is advancing further into the city. Ceasefire now, in El Fasher, in Darfur and throughout Sudan.

We welcome the first ACHPR Joint Fact-Finding Mission report on the situation of human rights in #Sudan. The joint FFM found that both SAF and RSF have committed serious human rights violations including attacks on civilians, ethnic based killings, torture and sexual violence.

Sudan’s Emergency Response Rooms didn’t win the Nobel peace prize as widely expected. The anticipation came at a time when volunteers are in dire need, with kitchens in Khartoum, Al-Fashir and elsewhere closed for lack of funds and volunteers are harassed, attacked, and killed.

Sudan's emergency response rooms are responsible for saving millions of lives in a 30 month war that has not had a single humanitarian pause or ceasefire. They are nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for the second year in a row. We celebrate them regardless of the outcome.

🚨 SUDAN: in a call launched ahead of the UN Human Rights Council's 60th session, close to 100 NGOs urge @UN_HRC to extend the mandate of the Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) for 2⃣ years 🇸🇩 We also highlight ways of enhancing international attention to Sudan, including: ☑️ Creating more participatory ways to shine a light on the situation by including civil society, victims & survivors in plenary debates on the country. ✅ Recommending that the UN General Assembly submit the FFM’s reports to the Security Council for appropriate action. The latter should: (i) Expand the #ICC's jurisdiction to cover the whole territory of Sudan; and (ii) Adopt targeted measures (including #sanctions) against those most responsible for atrocities. 🗒️ Read the full letter (English / français / اَلْعَرَبِيَّةُ): defenddefenders.org/sudan-extend-f… 🇺🇳 #HRC60 #Sudan #Darfur @Hassan_Shire

Today is the two-year anniversary of the outbreak of Sudan's war. Today is a day of shame. Shame on the perpetrators on both sides who have inflicted unimaginable suffering on civilians. Shame on the world who turns away as Sudan burns. #KeepEyesOnSudan amnesty.org/en/latest/news…
