Uhm. As both a black man and a former DNC director I expect to be in a Party that fights like heck for voting rights and also holds itself accountable by releasing a damn report on what it did with billions of dollars while losing to a corrupt madman. This ain’t hard.

Hell, I would love a report. I don’t have a damn thing to hide. But while some folks were obsessing over a report most Americans will never read or care about, Black voters in the South were staring down the possibility of losing voting power for generations. This may not be a priority for some people. But as a Black man from the South, this is about my existence. It’s about the environment in which I’m raising my sons. It’s about whether my children grow up in a state and a country that sees them as equal citizens whose voices matter. This is personal to me. This is about survival. We are months away from what I believe are the most important midterms of my lifetime. The Democratic Party cannot afford distractions, vanity projects, or circular firing squads while the fundamental rights and representation of Black Americans are under attack. History is watching all of us. Release the damn thing after the midterms but before the presidential elections, but in this moment we must FOCUS!

I think it's very important that we stop talking so publicly about this stuff and just do it if we win power.
I'm not hte first one to make this point, but Utah Republicans didn't campaign on packing the courts. There weren't think pieces on it. They just did it quietly.

Frank Sinatra was a registered Democrat all of his life. Occasionally he voted for a republican: for Nixon because of his stand on China and Reagan because they were lifelong friends. He never "became disgusted" with the Democratic Party. Nice try but you didn't research before posting.

AOC: What is extremely disturbing about what has happened in Virginia is this court overturned the will of three million Virginians. They can say what they want about the ballot initiative, but they explicitly chose to issue this ruling after the election happened. They had all the time in the world to issue an opinion or an injunction before allowing this election to happen. They did not overturn a map—they overturned an election. It is the power of the American people that should be the ultimate check on all three branches.
The court’s ability to overturn an election that was clear in its result should be something that is called into question.

AOC: It’s not a secret the disdain Ted Cruz has for people who work working-class jobs. It’s not a secret what he thinks of the waitresses, the line cooks—he thinks we’re less than him. He thinks that because he has a Harvard degree and has never scrubbed a table that it makes him better than someone who has actually had to work for a living.
I think it’s funny that he’s been taking a government paycheck for 23 years but has the audacity to criticize someone who has come from a family that had to work their way up and earn their place here.
