It's quite clear that what Italian politicians do to Palestine, Iraq, Iran, Syria & in Ukraine and with whom they align themselves to do is now part of domestic politics thanks to an informed young generation of citizens that's able to gain traction in spreading information.

I giovani votano soprattutto in base agli ideali. The U.S. attacks Iraqi troops. 🇺🇸🇮🇶 In a further escalation following the withdrawal from the bases, the US has launched an attack on Taqaddum Airbase, Habbaniyah, in Anbar province, killing 7 Iraqi soldiers as well as several members of the PMU/PMF. A response from the Iraqi resistance is expected in the coming hours, possibly with the collaboration of the rest of Iraq’s security forces against what has become a common enemy. An enemy, moreover, that attacked Shalamcheh (on the Iran-Iraq border) on March 24, 2026, following a rocket attack near the commercial zone and the trade yard. There were casualties among Iraqis and Iranians at the border crossing and in the trade exchange area. This directly affects the flow of goods (food, manufactured products, fuel, etc.), which is one of the main economic corridors between the two countries. This is considered yet another violation of Iraqi sovereignty.

Awful, heartbreaking, unacceptable We’ve just been at the funeral of two young volunteer paramedics in southern Lebanon - killed in a direct Israeli strike… one was only 16 years old They were killed whilst wearing their full kit according to witnesses - returning from the scene of an earlier strike The deliberate targeting of healthcare workers is a war crime but Israel has killed dozens here in recent weeks (and many more in 2024 and in Gaza)

The effects of Iraq's declaration of war against the USA and anyone that attacks its territory or armed forces, are sending shock waves, even before any USA invasion force landed near Iran. The city state of Kuwait is now empty, with most fleeing to Iraq and Saudi; huge line ups of 12 hours at border crossings. When the time comes, the invasion by Iraq/Iran will be swift, and their forces should not stop before reaching al-Khobar and securing the bridge to Bahrain.

Another very interesting piece from the WSJ. These details have been available through OSINT sources but it's a good roundup showing how key Europe is to US operations against Iran: - The central command center for US operations against Iran is within Ramstein Air Base in Germany (unsurprising) - US drone operations are conducted from there as well - American aircraft stationed in Spain have been relocated to France and Germany after the Spanish government denied the use of the Morón and Rota air bases for attacks on Iran - Bomber aircraft sortie out of bases in the UK like RAF Fairford - Refueling operations are based out of Aviano Air Base in Italy and Tubé Air Base in France - Lajes Air Base in the Azores (Portugal) is serving as a major logistical hub, with dozens of aircraft stationed there at various times during the conflict - RC-135 Rivet Joint spy planes are operating out of Souda Bay in Crete - Unspecified "logistics and intelligence assets" are being hosted by Romania The piece paints an amusing picture of European attitudes towards this. Keir Starmer's justification for overcoming his reticence to allow the US to base out of British facilities in the initial wave of strikes is that bomber operations are now "defensive" in nature. Merz has said publicly that this "isn't [Germany's] war," but he has no choice but to allow US operations out of German air bases due to pre-existing legal agreements. Meloni has spun Italian involvement as minor because only refueling missions are flown out of Aviano. Similarly, French defense minister Vautrin said, “a refueling aircraft is a gas station, not a fighter jet." These technicalities may work on the European public, but it's difficult to imagine they'll work on the Iranians.

US forces have been pushed out of the region and have been operating largely from Europe. “In recent weeks, U.S. bombers, drones and ships have been fueled, armed and launched via bases in the U.K., Germany, Portugal, Italy, France and Greece, officials say.” This is really, really bad news for the all-important interdiction war because operating from this far means a much lower sortie rate, and therefore interdiction rate. wsj.com/world/europe/e…

The US Navy’s newest aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78), may be sidelined for up to 14 months following a fire on March 12 and mounting system strain after nearly nine months of intense operations in the Red Sea. The fire, which erupted in the ship’s main laundry area, injured sailors, damaged living quarters, and required hours of firefighting and recovery efforts. Coupled with deferred maintenance and the pressures of one of the longest deployments in recent Navy history, USS Gerald R. Ford faces an extended period of time, where it could potentially be put out of action between 12 to 14 months. The Ford has been central to #US air operations in the region since February 28, but this extended downtime could significantly affect US naval capabilities and sustained operations in West Asia.

The United States has withdrawn from its last positions in territory controlled by the Iraqi federal government. 🇺🇸🇮🇶 Abu Mahdi Al-Jaafari Military Spokesperson for the Islamic Resistance In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate "O believers! If you support Allah, He will support you and make your feet firm. We confirm that US and NATO forces have completed their withdrawal from Victoria Base, near Baghdad Airport, using cargo planes and land vehicles to Jordan. We will bomb them with drones, not with stones, for they are the Great Satan. The eyes of the Islamic Resistance will remain ever vigilant and ready to fire, awaiting the entry of any occupier. We note that the Americans and NATO blew up two secret sites within the Victoria base prior to their withdrawal, and after their units had withdrawn, they violated the ceasefire that the government had granted them in agreement with the factions and resumed bombing the Popular Mobilisation Forces units in Jurf al-Nasr. We also inform our people that the Victoria base has been handed over to the Anti-Terrorism Service on the condition that no Iraqi forces enter it, and we affirm that there will be no return of the US occupation to Iraq. As is their custom when breaking their promises, the Americans have resumed their attacks against the Popular Mobilisation Forces, and we shall therefore continue to pursue them with fire at all their bases in Western Asia. We reiterate our stance: we will not allow current or future governments, God willing, to permit the return of the Americans and NATO to Iraq. The government must free itself from financial dependence on the US and clear Iraqi airspace of all hostile Zionist-American spy planes. Last but not least, we address Parliament and inform it that the sons of the Islamic resistance in Iraq have shattered the prestige of the Americans, driven them out of Iraq and fulfilled their mission. Therefore, the National Parliament must act swiftly to pass the Popular Mobilisation Law, implement the decision to expel foreign forces and annul the agreements with the American occupier"
