The reality drivers don't seem to think of. Cyclists won't just stop commuting to work and their options will just make it worse.

@ct_degroot Real results of lack of safe bike lanes. More cyclists hit, bikes taking their spot in the lane, and cars having to follow them doing 20k/hr down Bloor, more cars on the already congested roads. The bike delivery guys who we now rely on will just take to the sidewalks.

@ct_degroot Ford knows exactly what he’s doing, and it’s all for show. No one who rides a bike to work / lives in Toronto voted for him. Pissing off those two groups energizes those who do vote Ford. He can be seen as doing something, while he lets everything else in the province slide.

@robertbenzie @cityoftoronto @OntarioPCParty @StatCan_eng I am all for the safety of bicyclists but many of these bike lanes are forced onto roads that were designed for a couple of lanes of traffic, parking and sidewalks. Ramming in bike lanes makes it more dangerous for everyone including the cyclists.

@brianbswizzle @JodiesJumpsuit Exactly. Most drivers want a comfy couch that delivers just them to their location of choice in a speedy way which is impossible. Nobody can address these wants as they aren't a reality.

@JodiesJumpsuit Because of induced demand, congestion charges are really the only thing that can get vehicles moving, which most drivers don't support. That most people would rather sit in traffic than pay to move, tells me there's a lifestyle factor at play that advocates can't address.

Recently I was reading about traffic congestion in Canada and noted that driver commutes are experiencing slower speeds, longer durations, and becoming less predictable. All of these things are increasing driver frustration and aggression.

Not enough adults are understanding that they have to create moments of happiness in their lives. Find things to be excited about. Create plans to look forward to. Decorate the house during holidays. Make a playlist you only listen to on Tuesdays. Keep your favorite snacks stocked in case of a bad day. You have more control over your joy than you think.
