@pmarca For many reasons I'm cynical/critical of the Artemis program but if it's inspiring kids this way... Damn, might almost be worth it.

Just picked up my son from elementary school and was blown away that ZERO parents or kids were aware of the Artemis II launch. Have we lost complete interest in space travel?

@SpaceKate You know that in keeping with the theme of Artemis, once you're done building the set you have to throw it away.

I just found Orion in my Lego SLS set. It’s so tiny compared to that huge rocket!

@adamslab_ More like Congress is imposing a stupid limit on NASA not one they impose on themselves. It's the same issue as them having to re-aquire funding every single year instead of getting multi-year or project duration funding. Congress is always the problem.

Jesus Christ for $4 billion a launch you'd think we could get more on-board live views or at least an animation that doesn't look like it was make in the 80s.

Hey so I love and respect and admire everyone working on the Artemis program, but who was picking shots for the NASA stream during launch...

@joebarnard Certainly lots of room to improve. Would have loved a lot more on board. Really hope we get to see some much higher quality post stuff.

@DaQuackers So NASA is imposing a silly limit on themselves, or can't find anyone to hire to develop a camera internally? What, not enough room in that $4 billion budget for that?

@adamslab_ SpaceX doesn't have those limits. They can source cameras from anywhere no security or approval process. If it tests and operates in vacuum they're good to use it. Similarly they don't need approval to use their own sat comm receivers.

@adamslab_ Having been on the inside I gotta say.... Government is EXTREMELY slow to approve the use of new and not purpose built technologies and has so many restrictions. Find a vacuum stabile camera that isn't made with any parts from China (cause yes that's a real requirement)

@Erdayastronaut and anyone else doing a rocket live stream. Consider disabling ads for the stream. It's pretty sillily to get an ad whilst trying to load a live stream of a rocket launch.

Tomorrow, we launch. At sunset tonight, Artemis II waits on the pad, ready to carry astronauts potentially farther than any humans have traveled in more than half a century. The next era of exploration begins.

I get everyone's excitement over rockets and going back to the Moon but allow me to offer a bit of a reality check, to be a wet blanket as it were... It’s absolutely insane to me that they are launching Artemis II with a crew after only one prior launch. That concern is even stronger when you consider the heritage of the hardware and the companies involved. The RS-25 engine, for example, does not have a spotless history, and it comes directly from the Shuttle program. Read up on its history, it's frightening they are using the thing. The Shuttle, built by many of the same companies, had about a 1.5% catastrophic failure rate (roughly 1 in 68 launches), and when it failed, the outcome was always total loss of vehicle and crew. For context, Falcon 9 flew ~85 missions before its first crewed flight. The reason Artemis is flying crew after only one launch? Cost. At roughly $4 billion per launch, NASA cannot afford multiple uncrewed test flights. So, they are relying heavily on heritage hardware and analysis instead of flight-proven reliability. Hardware and contractors with a mixed historical record are being accepted under a different standard than would likely be applied to any other commercial provider. Like its predecessor, Artemis is a boondoggle. I sincerely hope it's not as much of a death trap.

@MehdiHacks Tried to get Tagarno to upgrade my old FHD-ZIP they gave me, but they weren't interested. ☹️ It's only been used in hundreds of videos...

I noticed Shahriyar is using a new microscope in his last video. It's Tagarno T50, with a low latency 4K 60Hz sensor and a motorized stand. Anyone has used this before? Do you know the price?

Pick any point in time (anywhere humans were roaming the Earth), and human suffering was orders of magnitude greater than it is today. Yes, there are issues today, but humanity is on a net positive path and has been for a long time. Whatever is going on in the world today that makes you feel so gloomy is likely just a growing pain, amplified by a 24-hour news cycle and social media. Whether or not progress is net positive, perverse incentives exist. Doom and gloom sells, or at least generates more clicks, than optimism. From a marketing perspective, given the positive nature of the art you're making, a positive marketing strategy would likely work better than: "Everything's falling apart, but here's some cool art inspired by one of humanity's greatest engineering feats."

@adamslab_ While I am very pleased with the many achievements and advancements, I am still overwhelmed with grief by the exploitation and slaughter of people all over the world. I am angry that corrupt and powerful people are not being held accountable for their actions.

I'm honestly SHOCKED at how the general public has NO IDEA Artemis II is taking humans out to the moon and will be the furthest humans have ever flown. Every non-space nerd I've talked to has no idea. WE GOTTA GET PEOPLE STOKED!!!! THESE FOUR HUMANS ARE FLYING TO THE MOON!!!
