@libertydadpod None of these Libertarians who are "elected" are winning three-way races. They are winning uncontested dogcatcher positions or nonpartisan races where being LP is not known to the voters. Let me know if you can find exceptions to this, but there are few if any.

Gary Johnson ran as Republican. Thomas Massie ran as a Republican. Ron Paul ran as a Republican. The Libertarian Party exists to trick people into wasting money and time. It's time for it to end, which is why I am running for chair of the LP.

This is a cool result of course, but I'm not sure it's a good model to say that AI will get linearly better. Not because the tech won't improve—it will—but because economic and social incentives will eventually colonize it, forcing optimization on multiple variables. In other words: right now, the AI hasn't been nerfed into refusing to make medical judgements an activist group deems problematic. But such things happen all the time in medicine (see, e.g., city-journal.org/article/equity…). And eventually it will happen to OpenAI and Anthropic, which are big, vulnerable targets with ideological and reputational commitments to being ideologically pure. Similarly, New York State would like to ban A.I. from making this judgement *at all* (statescoop.com/new-york-bill-…). That probably won't pass, but A.I. will absolutely be regulated into being worse at some stuff! The general intuition here is just Goodhart's law: the more powerful the A.I. is at telling us what's true, the greater the incentive to make it so politically or socially desirable things. And that will inevitably degrade its effectiveness versus the counterfactual!

@LouiseMBurke yes - but soon you will be discussing with devils advocate (if you can call debate with person only seeing one side that) and then important to be precise. We just completed 4 hour cycling trial with low/high intake and in loaded state no perf-benefit of 90 vs 20 gram/hour

Kudos to @xAI for being the first AI company to challenge a Colorado law requiring it to censor truthful answers if they could have a “differential impact” on protected groups. This is Woke AI. It teaches AI models to lie. And it’s a violation of the First Amendment.
Katie Miller@KatieMiller

Today, @xAI sued Colorado to stop a new law (SB24-205) that would force Grok to promote the state’s ideological views on various matters, racial justice in particular. Colorado wants to force Grok to follow its views on equity and race, instead of being maximally truth-seeking. Grok answers to evidence, not woke leftist government regulations. ft.com/content/55e8cb…

Is immigration about economics, or culture too? Do nations have ethical obligations to foreigners? Is ethnicity relevant to immgration? Is ICE worth it? Take the Free State Party immigration quiz: freestate.party/quiz/immigrati… These propositions will be discussed live tomorrow.

3/ I don't have a full response right now, but a partial response: (a) my largest objection to pot legalization is the negative externality of smells. If a bill legalized only edibles, or, say, made it a felony or harsh tort to make smells in public with a right private action

10 examples of the college football transfer mess: - The top 10 high school QB recruits in 2024 have transferred colleges a total of 11 times in 2 years. Only 1 is still with his original team. - Iowa State had 55 players enter the portal and 16 graduate this year. Every starter has left the team besides the kicker. Don’t worry, they have 45 incoming transfers and 25 new high school or JUCO recruits. - A QB flipped his commitment from Miami to Florida on the promise of a $14 million NIL deal that never came through. He never enrolled and is now on his 4th team. - Duke had a 2 yr/$8 mil contract with their QB. After his first season there, he decided not to enter the draft and released a video recommitting to the team. Nevertheless, 3 hours before the deadline, he enter the portal and announced a transfer to Miami, leaving Duke flailing. Duke has sued the player. - An OK St player entered the portal and announced intention to make official visits to multiple teams, including scheduling dates to visit OK St, the school he was already enrolled and playing at. - Reporter to Miami QB: “what is it like being you as a student (in the week leading up to the national championship?" Beck, who transferred to Miami in 2025, laughed: “No class. I graduated 2 years ago.” - One player has transferred 6 times, playing for 7 schools: LSU, Auburn, Texas State, Western Kentucky, Tulane, Georgia State, and Incarnate Word. - Four days after signing a new 1-year, $4+ million exclusive contract with Washington, the QB entered the transfer portal. Washington threatened legal action and the player recommitted to the school. - UNLV QB claimed he school orally promised $100k of NIL. After a 3-0 start, he had only received $3,000. He quit the team, left the school, and sat out the rest of the season. - LSU owes Ole Miss $1 million in contract buyout fees after recruiting 2 players in recent weeks. Ole Miss, with an unexpected hole in their roster and $ in their pocket, convinced a player who had just transferred from Cal to Clemson in early January to transfer for the 2nd time in 2 weeks.
