👀 Blimey @energy_said (one of the smartest energy analysts around) calculates that if oil continues to be disrupted as it is today it "would push prices upwards by $1/bbl per day, until prices surpassed $250/bbl, while almost zeroing global GDP growth." Totally catastrophic.

@MuchGreenGrass @micsolana @Grand_Ole_Evan we build actual colonies in the Americas, we build trade outposts in India and eventually ended up ruling the place, why people call everything colonialism is beyond me, i guess it's easier but completely misleading

@tomhfh I think Christ was a Great propagandist, or these close to him. He likely wasn't crucified on the cross, maybe a lookalike if people truly believed that he resurrected

Interested in this. Do you genuinely believe that around 2,000 years ago there was a man who was killed and then rose from the dead, on this earth?

@mmt_lvt @PositivFuturist If that's true then it's actually likely better than most humans, where humans are better is understanding the context and working out what was said. Btw llms don't typically have an audio layer, it's a separate system that transcribes text for the LLM

@afneil Even optimistic projections of a new gas rush still wouldn't stop us needing LNG imports

Andrew Neil@afneil·
We’re relying more on LNG to set the price because we’re allowing domestic supplies to decline and depend more on imported LNG supplies. A matter of policy. A bizarre policy driven by net zero zealots. Even in a mature field like the North Sea there is still a lot more gas to get out. Ask the Norwegians. Increase that supply and UK NBP hub prices will come down. Tax revenues will rise. Balance of payments will improve. Sterling will strengthen. And more jobs will be saved/added. Simples.
PAD@68PAD

@afneil The fact remains , we rely on imported gas , traded on the international market and bought at a rate we have no control over

@Rix6145 @JB11XI @PolitlcsGlobal Jfc, if Iran has no one to sell to its goodbye to their economy, it's why Russia still sells gas to Europe despite them supporting Ukraine. It's unfortunate to have to state the obvious

Having to state the obvious over and over is unfortunate. If the USA pulls out of Iran, the strait will not open, because Russia who is closely allied with Iran, will ensure that Oil, Gas, and Fetilizer never again flows to any nation in support of Ukraine. A new front to the Ukraine war has opened. And Europe is now trapped by a strip of water 20 km wide, and their own energy policies. How long till Europe crawls on broken glass to Trump begging him to help, offering Greenland and whatever else he has on his list of todo items as peace offerings.

@RendTheVeil @Keir_Starmer Exactly, the fact that we have a space sector with a fraction of NASAs funding is mind blowing to me, it's not enough to fund a company like spacex, but that's why we need to sing loudly to one day get proper funding. Doom posting gets nowhere

@adcogfx @Keir_Starmer Do you know how much GOVERNMENT funding those guys get? NOTHING! Sure R&D exists, and it's often Oxbridge spinoff's, but they live on a shoestring budget and government ignores them, how they survive as companies is mostly luck.

@JarvisForce1 @jondelarroz It's not really worth skipping for 2 seconds of nudity unless you're watching with kids, I mean either way it's a show about killing people possessed by a parasite with many genocides committed throughout the show

I began watching Stargate Atlantis. The vibe was family friendly. I decided to watch SG1. I was caught by surprise that Daniel's wife was completely naked in the first episode. I researched and found that this never happened again throughout the remaining series, and family-friendly was the standard. I suggest anyone wanting to watch this series skip the first episode.

Stargate SG-1 is so based. Did you know Showtime wanted it to be “mature” with nudity and swearing and Brad Wright fought and argued against it, eventually making sure the show was clean? You don’t need these things. It’s a sign of unconfident writing. Wright knew.
