This is the only way to make rapid progress
ELON CLIPS@ElonClipsX

Marc Andreessen: Elon inspires incredible loyalty from his employees because they know he'll sit all night with them to solve a problem. “Elon actually delegates almost everything. He's not involved in most of the things that his companies are doing.  He's involved in the thing that is the biggest problem right now until that thing is fixed. And then, he doesn't have to be involved in it anymore, he can go focus on the next thing that's the biggest problem for that company right now.  In manufacturing, there's this concept of the bottleneck. In any manufacturing chain, there's always some bottleneck, something that is keeping the manufacturing line from running the way that it's supposed to. Whatever the bottleneck, it's holding everything up.  The job number one is to remove that bottleneck and get everything flowing again. I think Elon basically has universalized that concept and he basically looks at every company like it's some sort of conceptual assembly line.  I don't need to manage everything else because everything else, by definition, is running better than that. I can go focus on that.  A lot of CEOs, especially non-technical CEOs, would really struggle to implement his method. When he identifies the bottleneck, he goes and he talks to the line engineers who understand the technical nature of the bottleneck.  If it's people on a manufacturing line, he's talking to people directly on the line. Or if that's people in a software development group, he's talking to the people actually writing the code.  He's not asking the VP of Engineering to ask the Director of Engineering to ask the manager to ask the individual contributor to write a report that's to be reviewed in three weeks. He doesn't do that. He would throw them all out of the window. There's just no way he would do that.  He goes and personally finds the engineer who actually has the knowledge about the thing, and then he sits in the room with that engineer and fixes the problem with them.  This is why he inspires such incredible loyalty, especially from the technical people who he works with. They're like, wow, if I'm up against a problem I don't know how to solve, freaking Elon Musk is going to show up in his Gulfstream jet, and he's going to sit with me overnight in front of the keyboard or in front of the manufacturing line, and he's going to help me figure this out.” Interview of @pmarca by @ChrisWillx on Youtube, December 14, 2024

First of all, I’m not the author of this proposal. Credit to @realDonaldTrump, @JDVance & @SpeakerJohnson. Second, this is a MUCH better bill that is closer to being a real continuing resolution (not an omnibus masquerading as a CR), but with support for hurricane victims & farmers, as well as a reasonable extension to the debt ceiling. Clean & simple. If Dems reject this & government shuts down, they deserve to lose bigtime in the midterms.

.@RepJeffries: "The Musk-Johnson proposal is not serious. It's laughable. Extreme MAGA Republicans are driving us to a government shutdown."

A friend of mine suggested that I clarify the nature of the danger of woke AI, especially forced diversity. If an AI is programmed to push for diversity at all costs, as Google Gemini was, then it will do whatever it can to cause that outcome, potentially even killing people.

24 hours later Oppenheimer review: -all the Oscars, but especially sound -it’s really two different movies, a science thriller and a political thriller. Some folks may not like the political side -the scenes around the tests and Hiroshima are just, wow -IMAX or go home

Peter Thiel has a comment that I love: "Things that are real sciences don't need to put 'science' at the end of it." Its Physics. Not Physics Science. Its Chemistry. Not Chemistry Science. Its Biology. Not Biology Science. Its Electrical Engineering. Not Electrical Engineering Science With science, you will learn exactly the same things, no matter where you go to school. While this may seem like a bad thing, I think its a great thing. The laws of physics don't change just because you went to a state school vs Ivy League. Now, if you think about other "sciences" however, there is a lot of variance depending on where you go to school. Social Science? Political Science? Even Computer Science varies wildly from school to school. Some universities try to create a mystique that you will be taught something or by someone or meet someone that will change your life when pursuing these other "sciences". This may be true in some circumstances but the odds of success are probably much higher for the broader population if you can focus on indelible content (ie real science) that describes how the world works. And you can learn THAT, on a level playing field with everyone, anywhere.

I’ve long said that tech’s greatest film is The Social Network (2011), and that like Wall Street (1987), it popularized an industry/culture and led to a surge of young people moving West to build. There was an equivalent cultural force for DC, but it happened with two shows and split down party lines: The West Wing for progressives (1999-2006) and 24 for conservatives (2001-2010). Chances are if you met someone who moved to DC at the height of those shows, they were obsessed with one or both.

Great ballpark, probably the best in the minor leagues, but the game time temperature was 113F/45C 🥵. Definitely need to build in more shade if the A’s move here next season….
