Last year, HHS Secretary RFK Jr. fired all full-time employees in the CDC’s cruise ship sanitation program, gutting the agency’s ability to investigate outbreaks and inspect ships. Now, after a deadly virus outbreak aboard the Dutch cruise ship MV Hondius left three passengers dead, U.S. officials are monitoring possible infections in multiple states as the CDC no longer has a full-time cruise ship sanitation team. Great job, everyone.

8 days. That’s how long it took Tennessee Republicans to gut a majority-Black Memphis district after SCOTUS gutted the Voting Rights Act. Louisiana, Alabama, and South Carolina are next. They’re not even hiding it anymore.

NEW exclu from @NBCNews team: "Trump’s abrupt U-turn on a plan to re-open the Strait of Hormuz came after backlash from allies. Saudi Arabia suspended the U.S. military’s ability to use its bases and airspace to carry out the operation, sources say." nbcnews.com/politics/white…

.@CarolLeonnig: Trump’s personal lawyer Lindsey Halligan was “pressuring and pushing” DOJ prosecutors under her at EDVA to bring charges against Sen. Lucas because she thought it would help the Trump White House in the midterms, per source familiar

As interim U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA) under Trump last year, Halligan brought charges against former FBI Director Jim Comey and NY AG Letitia James, both of which were quickly dismissed. A federal court ruled that Halligan was appointed illegally

This would entirely ruin one of the most stirring views in our nation's capital. Shame on anyone who helps make this happen.

A 3-D model by the @nytimes visualizes the impact of Trump's proposed arch on the sightline between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington House, showing that it would not only dwarf the other memorials but also interfere with the carefully crafted view. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

Not sure why there is so much confusion around this, but: 1. Cole Allen never reached the ballroom. 2. He never fired a shot. 3. He was not shot. 4. He was going to use buckshot, if he had reached the ballroom, but he didn’t. 5. The shots fired were by Secret Service; one officer took friendly fire, but it was stopped by tactical gear. 6. Allen was apparently subdued (tackled). 7. Officers recovered a handgun, a long-gun, and knives from Allen. 8. The security perimeter was inside the hotel and functioned as designed.

The shooting happened on the level above the ballroom where the White House Correspondents Association dinner was. I don't think people hearing about this -- or even those of us in the room -- realized how far from the president, VP and other guests this incident was. It was on another floor, up some stairs and several sets of security away. Because the Washington Hilton's hotel and other public spaces were open for other functions, the entire building wasn't secured by the Secret Service, just the specific areas where the WHCA dinner was held, law enforcement officials told @CBSNews.

White House Correspondents Association dinner has ended. Trump wants a re-do within a month. The security system worked -- no one was hurt, the Secret Service quickly arrested the shooter. @CBSNews

🚨 NBC News confirms for the first time: the Iranian Air Force bombed US military bases in the opening phase of the war. This was not just missiles and drones. This was the Iranian Air Force. Conducting airstrikes on American bases. And we’re only finding out now. What else haven’t they told us?

To my eye, Dems have definitively taken the lead in the mid-decade redistricting battle for this cycle. 🔵 Ds will likely gain 8-10 seats 🔴 Rs will likely gain 4-8 seats And it seems like an awfully big risk for FL to further redraw its map given the swings we’re seeing in special elections.

Stick a fork in it. Virginia has voted to redraw its congressional district map through 2030 & Dems will likely flip four seats in November. In this environment: VA-01 (Harris +7) 🔵 Safe D VA-02 (Harris +5) 🔵 Likely D VA-05 (Harris +9) 🔵 Safe D VA-06 (Harris +3) 🔵 Likely D

Just so you get the truth and not the partisan spin here, Republicans came up with the idea of the mid-decade redistricting fight and started in Texas. Then, in Virginia, the RNC spent $0.00 to fight. Now, as drawn, the Democrats have an advantage from the redistricting fight.
