The Central Corridor reaffirms its commitment to enhancing safety, security, and trade efficiency along the vital Kasumbalesa, Lubumbashi–Nakonde/Tunduma route. Last week in Lubumbashi, we convened key stakeholders including truck drivers, transporters, clearing and forwarding agencies, security and other government institutions to jointly address non-tariff barriers and security issues affecting the corridor. The meeting was officiated by Her Excellency, Lorraine LUSAMBA KAZADI, Provincial Minister of Economy, Transport, Tourism and Commerce. With the support of @TradeMarkAfrica, DRC Office, the meeting generated valuable insights and reinforced the need for coordinated action to improve cross-border operations. Together, we are advancing the Corridor long-term vision of a resilient, secure, and sustainable trade route that supports economic growth for the region.

He commended Prof. Oramah’s partnership with the AfCFTA Secretariat in advancing programmes for SMEs, youth, and the creative sector, while highlighting initiatives such as PAPSS, the Adjustment Fund, and IATF as pillars reshaping intra-African trade. He paid tribute to a visionary leader whose legacy has strengthened confidence in Africa’s capacity to design and deliver its own solutions

“Our mission is therefore to transform the structure of that trade. To change the structure, we must process. We must produce. Unless we produce, we cannot trade.” For too long, Africa’s trade has been defined by the export of what we grow and extract, not what we create. That must change.
