2023 was the intro to AI for the DTC world. 2024 is when brands actually implement this technology. Here are my 8 predictions for the AI<>DTC world. I have 100k followers on TikTok talking about AI and the future of ecom, and have started a DTC brand solely using AI. So, I spend a lot of time thinking and talking about this space. 1. AI-generated static ads will become *really* good. I believe within the next 12 months, DTC brands will be shocked at how good AI-generated ads are. The big difference? AI will learn to spell (lol), will learn how to implement a product, and proper design principles (spacing, font, color, etc.) 2. CustomGPTs will be the hype technology everyone tries to figure out. The data that DTC brands possess is extremely valuable. CustomGPTs allow brands to unlock it. 3. Because of the CustomGPT wave, the *new* job for DTC brands will be someone that acts as a data scientist for their team. This person takes a ton of data from a combo of Shopify, Meta, Klaviyo, etc. and helps give insight to attribution, effective ad creatives, effective messaging, etc. Their job is to uncover trends/patterns with their data to optimize for future campaigns. You will know what will work in the future by analyzing the past. 4. A large majority of brands will outsource their customer service to AI. In particular, @siena_ai pops off and becomes a household name. AI is here for repetitive, mundane tasks. Customer service is the definition of that. 5. AI influencers will be a popular trend, but will fade. Whoever is able to partner with AI influencers first will create find success due to the headline, leading to everyone doing it and realizing they are effective. It's a cool news headline, but influence = trust. I don't see us trusting AI influencers yet. But we've already seen brands like BMW, Calvin Klein, and Prada partner with AI influencers. 6. We will see a company that uses AI to generate landing pages for each customer segmentation. We already have brands that suggest products based on who you are (@aidaptive_ ). But I think in 2024 we will see a brand that creates custom LPs for each audience segmentation that comes to the site, starting the hyperpersonalization revolution. 7. Everything starts to get automated, making teams extremely efficient. The future of DTC is ONE employee owning the entire role. No need for multiple influencer managers, creative strategists, or customer service reps. One person + AI = entire team. I think of @getsaral what used to take a team of 2-4 influencer manages requires one. 8. We will see the veryyyy early stages of GOOD AI-generated DTC video ads. I firmly believe (I mean it's the reason generAI exists) we will get to a point where you upload an ad brief and AI will generate something that's decent.
