The "he got an unfair advantage!" folks on this stupid, stupid app who generate so much angst and anger around the idea that Rory is one of the greatest players in history bring me so much delight. Like, please do continue replying to all of us with things like "get off your knees" (and much more vile stuff than that) because I am absolutely going to continue enjoying writing about and covering a once-in-a-generation golfer. Nothing could be more fun than the most dynamic person currently in the sport somehow also being one of the 10 best to ever do it. And so many people (bots, whatever) cannot help themselves but to rage against the joy of these events and the beauty disclosed by his game. Just try and enjoy something wonderful!

@JonnyRoot_ @garrett_TFE Hey dude! Go do that thing you wanted to achieve your whole life… oh no but don’t practice in order to achieve it it’s unfair to those who don’t practice… oh no don’t go and prepare yourself it’s unfair for those who don’t prepare themselves… my lord

I said it was an unfair advantage after round 2 and reiterated it after he won. Let’s get that straight. There’s no asterisk to his win. He’s an all-time great who’s now in the same sentence as Faldo, Nicklaus and Woods. Never said he cheated. BUT, him having immensely more familiarity with the course because he was allowed to play it exponentially more than any other player the month prior, while skipping three tournaments, is an issue that is worth discussing. He had what I believe to be an unfair advantage.

I mean, above all, if you're a guy who's sad that Rory won (which is fine — we all have players we root against), it's just so pathetic to turn around and cry unfair advantage. Be a grown-up, take the L, and move on to the next major.

I guess we’ll have to take Kim’s word for it, though I’m still skeptical EVERY PLAYER would get the same access as Rory McIlroy Here’s the problem though: • Without reform, some players will get more practice & familiarity. I’d argue there should be a set number the month leading up to the tournament, regardless of whether they’re a champion or not • This encourages more players to skip tournaments prior to The Masters, creating a load management-type issue in golf that’ll devalue those tournaments to broadcast partners, patrons, & sponsors. Picking up what I’m putting down?

If I wanted to match the number of the rounds at Augusta that Rory got, I easily could have done that

Here’s potential #1 overall pick of the 2026 WNBA Draft & unapologetic lesbian, Azzi Fudd talking about getting baptized last week. It really concerns me that she is still reportedly dating Paige Bueckers, & Athletes in Action thought it was appropriate to baptize her… It’s dangerous to give someone hope in their eternal salvation, while they live in open rebellion against Jesus Christ & His Word (The Bible). Romans 1:18-32 & 1 Corinthians 6:9 are clear. Pray for her 🙏🏼
Jon Root@JonnyRoot_

I really hope Azzi Fudd was not baptized without fully committing to Jesus Christ by repenting of her sexual immorality & leaving her lesbian lifestyle behind. As far as I know, Fudd is still unapologetically dating her former teammate Paige Bueckers. 1 Corinthians 6:9

@RonDBelter Actually Ron, I can afford it, it’s just not financially smart to do that. There’s plenty of flights going to Augusta from anywhere else in the US.

Erick, wanting more of level playing field under the rules is not socialism… That’s a politically charged way to deflect from my argument. Rory has plenty of money. So much money he can take a private jet a bunch of times to Augusta. Stop acting like it was a humble sacrifice. He also crapped on those tournaments, one of them being a tournament dedicated to a children’s hospital… Every golfer can’t skip three tournaments, fly private a bunch of times to Augusta and always get a tee time the month prior. There are rules in place in every sport and every league to ensure athletes and teams don’t have a major advantage over others. That’s not socialism. That’s fairness.

Yes, there’s a number of rounds that ANGC will say no to for me to go by myself and play by myself. That number is prob a little lower for me than a guy like Rory. If you find a member to host you every time, there’s no limit. I had plenty of chances to go to ANGC myself if I wanted to but didn’t go. Better use of my time practicing at home or wherever I am to get my game in better shape for my next tournament. Course knowledge only gets you so far. Plenty of golfers have even more experience at Augusta than Rory like Justin Rose.

What Rory accomplished on Sunday … • 4th back to back Masters winner. • T8 most majors of Masters era. • Undisputed best Euro golfer ever. • Undisputed best player of his generation. Since the Masters started, the list of golfers who have more majors is comically good. Jack Tiger Hogan Watson Arnie Player Snead That’s it.

As far as I could tell, Rory did it all in the run-up to the Masters. He made himself available for documentaries, was at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and the Drive Chip and Putt, played with his father at AN, played in the Par Three and did every interview and handled them all with class. And then took us all on another incredible ride and afterwards, gave an emotional and beautiful speech. There is no better stage than Augusta National and there is no better theatre than Rory. I’m not sure golf has ever had a more sustained run of great players winning majors, with the average world rank of the last 56 major winners better than 15th in the world. Looking forward to the rest of the major season.

If Tiger had gone on day trips to practice at Augusta in the lead up to winning back to back Masters, he’d be praised for having the most elite mentality (and rightfully so) Funny how the narrative is different when it’s Rory…
