@PreetKGillMP @11cemetarygates ..and that’s great. Thanks to us taxpayers. Now people, please PLAN where you can go - activities, parks, museums, galleries etc. And why not plan some walking in that. Don’t say “we’ve no money & have to stay indoors.” 😎

@martinibrooks - are you part of the ‘Better Birmingham’ group Martin (Greens, Liberal Dems, and Better Birmingham Group of Independents) working to create a sustainable administration to serve Birmingham’s residents?

@GordonDimmack @afneil The China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) offered to build the troubled HS2 rail project in 2020 for a fraction of the projected budget and in just five years. The UK rejected it because of concerns for national security.

UK news: HS2 could cost up to £102.7bn and may not open until 2039 (BBC) This is Chongqing railway station rebuild in China. It cost £16.5bn and took only around 3 1/2 years to complete. Their high speed rail (350km/hr) cost just £5.9bn and took 6 years

@ReissOmari Lack of confidence to invest in Birmingham. On Eastside the new BBC building will be the only one occupied when completed…and Broad Street (a main entry to the city) is full of empty awful buildings. Welcome to Brum.🫣

Now we all know I’m a huge advocate for Birmingham but never shy away from its issues, my question of today is how on earth have we had this huge wasteland in city centre for so long? Smithfield is a generational project, but what’s taking so long for it to get started?

@gardensinboots @David4BKH If only we in Harborne Ward had any knowledge of prospective Lib Dem candidates…can find little or nothing and enquiry to LD Brum branch brought me a copy of the party manifesto which I’m already aware of. Publicly has been pathetic.

Having worked in the next ward to @David4BKH for 4 years, although we have clashed at times, he is a diligent & hard working Cllr passionate about equality & road safety. Sad that wasn’t acknowledged.
Simon J Dixon@WoodinRivers

I was really struck by both Labour candidates airbrushing out David Barker, the other Labour councillor for the last 4 years. Not only was he not mentioned, there was not even any hint that there even WAS another councillor. Absolutely remarkable.

I welcome the agreement reached by John Cotton and Labour with Unite to bring an end to the bin strikes. This has been a difficult period for the city. Residents have felt the impact and workers have been looking for fairness and certainty. Throughout, John and his team have stayed focused on getting round the table and finding a fair settlement for the council workers. This is a good deal that will deliver a better refuse and recycling service and a settlement that respects the need to deliver value for money for residents. What matters now is delivery. After polling day, this agreement must be honoured in full, with a clear timetable and a formal resolution that gives confidence to workers and residents alike. As Mayor, I will continue to do everything I can to support that process and to help ensure this deal delivers for Birmingham and the wider region. It's clear that only Labour has an agreed plan to end this strike.

@WestMidRailway Did you know that on this day in 1970 no trains were cancelled due to staff not bothering to turn up & no contingency plan in place. Wonder if history can repeat itself?

@WestMidRailway @cobberUK THIS HAPPENS SO OFTEN.😡 Whilst any business can’t sustain overmanning, you’ve at least got to have sufficient in reserve to keep your core business fully operating. As your ‘clients’ we are frustrated & angered by this. SORT IT!

@cobberUK Hi there, I am sorry about this. When a member of train crew becomes unavailable (e.g. sickness, or them being delayed on a different train) we try to source alternative crew but unfortunately this is not always possible. Your ticket is valid on our next available service -Leah

@andy4wm So what are you today Andy…prospective next West Mids Mayor (you appeared to do a good job 1st time around), proponent of ‘Prosper’ (that sub-group within a political party that remains nameless) or a Conservative (who we will never forgive for 14 yrs of appalling government)?

We all say we want growth. But you don’t get it by raising costs on the very businesses expected to deliver it. Growth comes from enterprise, investment and hard work, backed by a system that encourages them, not one that holds them back. conservativehome.com/2026/04/15/and…

@ITVCentral But if you live on the west side of Birmingham, from the city centre to Quinton, there is no railway, and in a Review carried out for the West Mids Mayor it rejects any chance of trams either - so bus, drive, walk or risk your life cycling along the Hagley Rd. Brilliant strategy

I am disappointed by the outcome of the Rosewell Review. As Chair of the Hagley Road Steering group, I have consistently made the case for a tram extension along the Hagley Road with a park and ride at Quinton Meadows. I’ve written to the West Midlands Mayor👇🏽

@martinibrooks @UKLabour @BhamCityCouncil @BrumLabour A past councillor of my ward spent time towing the party line instead of dealing with local issues. But being an independent, whilst giving top support on local needs, without the back-up of a party or an alliance, surely may often be an unheard voice in Council?

@brianpiehouse We’ll wait until they’re demolished & replaced with 30 storey residential blocks & then we’ll cry over the old pics of what we lost and then come out with brave ideas of what we should have done.🙁

Big news for neighbourhood policing 3,000 additional officers now in post, delivered two months early by our government. Proud that, working with Al Carns, we secured neighbourhood officers for every ward in Birmingham. Read more 👇🏽preetkaurgill.co.uk/post/major-nei…

Today is a great day for Birmingham as passengers ride on the Camp Hill line for the first time in 80 years. When I took over, the project was heavily delayed and over budget. We got a grip, and the fantastic team worked around the clock to get delivered.

@PreetKGillMP What’s the point of speed bumps? On many vehicles you can align your wheels to the bump gap and/or edge of the bump. It doesn’t slow you; you hardly notice they’re there. 🙄
