@mxcl @aaronp613 This wasn't a choice -- a patent suit stopped it. Apple PR is terrible about explanations and reasoning for company's actions. (n.b. they allowed App Store government actions to be about payment processing and not the ridiculous costs of ensuring Meta isn't violating privacy)

@BrandonButch Their public argument is they don’t want Apple taking over the car. Which seems bizarre since we've all seen how not one car manufacturer can make software that isn’t abysmal going on more than 20 years now. LET APPLE TAKE OVER THE CAR!

@PolestarCars Buggy software, lack of software QA before release, halting OTAs due to bugs, and no new features

@antonalog Yes. Apply for appropriate tax benefits. Lots of billionaires do by having some grapevines or similar on their property.

I am in possession of a chicken coop and some potatoes. Does this qualify as a farm?

@tacobell Your stupid app requires clicking an email link to login. I don’t receive that email because your server earned a spot on the SpamCop blocklist. 1. Fix your spamming behavior and get off the SpamCop blocklist. 2. Bring back passwords. Email isn’t instant anyway.

@ashleygjovik Well, that sucks for me since I won’t be part of whatever $12 settlement payout.

@alexr Yeah. The NLRA only has a six-month statute of limitations and I filed my first claim in August 2021. So its my fault for trying to "assume best intent" with Apple for so long prior. I'm also going after the policies in my civil lawsuit and there should be more flexibility there.

🧵 ⚖️ In Oct 2021, I filed a NLRB charge against #Apple, alleging that almost all of Apple's employee policies violate federal #labor laws. In 2023, #NLRB agreed; & yesterday, Sept. 27 2024, NLRB issued a Complaint & Notice of Hearing for Apple's 1st all-US-employee NLRB lawsuit.

@ashleygjovik Why is this only applying after 4/2021? They’ve been doing bad things for much longer.

In NLRB policy cases like this NLRB isn't just saying it was illegal for Apple to have these policies for me. I filed my charge on behalf of all US employees & so the Complaint is also on behalf of all those workers. The remedy will require Apple to apologize to all US employees.

@thorpej Lowe’s already cleared out the Halloween stuff to put in the Xmas stuff. Same madness that has our stores selling NYC Winter fashions.

@tacobell Your “password-free” app is now not fast enough to qualify for fast food use. Email does not deliver quickly in all cases. Tell your web developers to read about “greylisting” and then have them go back to optionally allowing passwords. My phone stores passwords for me!

@jon_stokes Every AI chip startup has this same pathology. So many starting with ex-Broadcom teams that have no idea that software is a requirement.

I think about this all the time & frankly it’s extremely weird to me. I almost suspect shenanigans, but I can’t reason out the why of it. They have outright refused to do the basic software things they’d need to do to compete with NVIDIA. Very hard to understand.

@OmarShaik10 Silicon teams have long lead times as well, especially if they’re bumped down the road. But yeah, that’s why I was happy to take on SwiftShot, SwiftStrike, and BugBreakAR as projects — giving folks an annual win to celebrate.

It just struck me that due to the fickle nature of R&D projects, this will be the first time folks will be seeing their contributions ship at Apple after 7-8 years of work. I was lucky to have some interim wins like Reality Composer and SwiftShot, but those were small teams.
