The USC shouldn't be lowered.
We're a low tax economy reliant on a handful of corporations for way too much of our revenue.
We've some of the highest earnings and income inequality in Europe and this will dispropirtionately benefit higher earners.

Government will 'look at' lowering the rate of USC on a phased basis over the forthcoming budgets, junior minister Christopher O'Sullivan said jrnl.ie/7024532

@ciarannugent I pay 52% deductions the stats are blurred because the taxes are hidden and called usc, asc and prsi all on top of the 40% tax rate that you forget to mention. It is wrong that middle income earners pay so much.
English

Yeah, but we don't.
It's factually incorrect
A German worker on 60k pays 37.5% income tax
An Irish worker on 60k pays 25%
A German worker on 90k pays 41% income tax
An Irish worker on 90k pays 33%
How this stuff gets by editorial process every other week is mad

@reptracker You don’t need a ceremony to get a passport. He is either entitled to it through parents/grandparents or not. It’s a standard application.

Owen Elding was due to attend his citizenship ceremony this week - the final step before he can even apply for his Irish passport. But the ceremony was cancelled due to fuel protests, leaving him stuck in limbo.
The next ceremony isn’t scheduled until June, meaning he now can’t get his passport in time for the next international window.
It’s a crazy situation, especially when there is interest from England in bringing him into their setup. You would think there could be some flexibility or adjustments made in cases like this when the only thing standing between a player and representing Ireland is simply attending a ceremony.
For now though, it’s simply a waiting game and Ireland will be hoping the delay doesn’t complicate things further.

@OffgridIreland This is literally telling gaurds not to do their job. You’ll get in trouble. Policing is not black and white it always operated in the grey. This is woke madness.

🚨 Absolute madness in Dublin courts today. A Garda with 6 years service, no priors, gets a 2-year driving ban + €500 fine for "dangerous driving"... while chasing two masked, helmetless, no-plate scrambler thugs who were wheelieing through traffic, flipping the finger at cops, and endangering kids on their way to school.
He followed them into a cul-de-sac after they weaved through heavy mid-morning traffic on the North Circular Road.
His car mounted the kerb and hit a cone. No one hurt. Scramblers got away. But GSOC complaint → full prosecution. Judge says he proved "dangerous driving" even though the Garda was in full control and just trying to do his job. Meanwhile, remember Grace Lynch?
The 16-year-old girl mowed down and killed by a scrambler in Finglas just months ago? The same "scourge" these bikes represent the ones Gardaí are sick of scraping bodies off the road from.
Drugs, guns, burglaries, pure lawlessness. Grace’s Law is finally kicking in this week to seize and destroy them… but this is the message we send our police?
Why on earth would ANY Garda bother chasing criminals anymore?
Risk your career, your licence, your future just so some joyriding thug on an illegal death machine can laugh at you and escape?
The courts tie their hands, the ombudsman hunts them for doing what the public begs them to do, and innocent people like Grace pay the ultimate price.
This isn’t justice. This is why Dublin feels lawless. Gardaí are out there every shift dealing with 4-5 scrambler calls while the system punishes the good guys.
Enough. Support the cops doing the dangerous work or watch the chaos get worse.

@MarkLeeEire The lads played very well. We were always. A play off situation at best. Portugal were going to top the group.

They are from Missouri & Massachusetts and claiming that Trump’s “vicious dictatorship” makes them feel unsafe.
