Some MSPs say they still don't know whether to vote for or against assisted dying in Scotland. At this late stage, if in doubt about this profoundly significant legislation, they must surely vote against.

This has been a hugely difficult vote. There are compelling arguments on both sides and I realise my decision will be supported by some and opposed by others. But looking at the detail, I could not support the Bill tonight with the risks of coercion and lack of safeguards.

This is completely wrong. These MSPs should be ashamed of themselves. Adults with a terminal illness should be allowed the right to end their suffering. I’m utterly disappointed and upset at this decision. We are a backward country 💔

@richardajkeys @GabbyLogan is everything you are not. That family have endured the worst possible trauma in losing their son and brother. They have now lost their dad. Try understanding what their lives have been like coping with this. Your post was misogynistic, ungracious and disrespectful.

What a shame my words for a footballing hero of mine were entirely misinterpreted. Terry Yorath was a fabulous guy. A warrior. My affection for him meant I was more than happy to help him & his family in any way I could. Gabby’s career would make any father proud. RIP Terry.

One of my best friends, Alex who is 23 years old and his family have set up a @JustGiving page to help raise money to help him access the best treatments available to him. I was living with him at the time when he fell unwell in May so took him to hospital with another one of our friends. We were all shocked to find out that he had cancer, which was later diagnosed as a stage 4 glioma. Despite the standard NHS treatment, it was discovered on New Year’s Eve that there was some further growth. This has made the need for additional funds even more important, so if you could take a moment to access the link provided, read Alex’s story that would be massively appreciated. The fundraiser has already raised over £50,000 which is amazing, however, the costs of private treatment, travel and insurance have been quoted to be £200,000 to his family. I know January is a tough time for everyone, financially, if you can donate that would be amazing, but sharing this with as many people as possible is just as important. Grief is tough at Christmas but New Year feels especially painful. It’s another year that Laura doesn’t get to see - now I’ll have to say ‘my daughter died 3 years ago’ but to me it feels like just yesterday. Some people might think I’d be over her loss by now 1/3

Not one for getting too personal but thought a tweet would be easier than messaging everyone I speak too on here. Hard to find the “correct” words to put it across but October 15th after a stay in hospital I was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Will start radiotherapy early November and will get the full diagnosis on the start date as they are still waiting for results to come back but treatment will be to maintain quality of life and to prolong life. Hopefully still be filling your feeds with nonsense for many years but we will see how it goes.
