There is no public demand for another independence referendum and support for separatist parties is well down on its peak. John Swinney and the SNP are trying to invent a mandate that simply does not exist. Most Scots want governments focused on fixing schools, hospitals, transport and the economy - not dragging the country back into another divisive constitutional campaign.
