if men’s mental health mattered (to men) they’d be creating safe spaces for themselves and each other, pursuing therapy, and creating community. instead, they perpetuate the very behaviors systems that have handicapped them in the first place, refuse to support or create community amongst each other, severely damage the women in their lives who try to care for them, and attack women online for not doing the work for them in replies to tweets like the one below lol.

As Peru faces accusations of violating international law, Baluarte's coalition with Fujimorismo and right-wing is pushing to withdraw from the Inter-American system, seeking to evade accountability and further undermine efforts to protect justice and human rights in Peru ⚖️

Baluarte's regime also freed ex-dictator Fujimori, a perpetrator of crimes against humanity. His gov, notorious for corruption, was responsible for the forced sterilizations of +270,000 women. Now his party drives the rollback on gender equality and attacks on sexual diversity

The gov of Peru's first female president, Dina Baluarte, plans to dissolve the Ministry of Women & Vulnerable Populations. In a country where sexual abuse is the 2nd most committed crime, and eleven girls get pregnant daily, this is a cruel blow against girls and women 💔🚨

@jk_rowling Magnus Hirschfeld's institute was raided by early Nazis and the first 30 years of trans research were burned, Joanne. Here's a picture of an early edition of the German Nazi publication Der Stürmer with Hirschfeld's picture on it essentially calling him a groomer.

When Hitler rose to power as German chancellor in 1933, he enacted policies to rid the country of Lebensunwertes Leben, or “lives unworthy of living.” His targets included Jews, Roma people, disabled people and communists—but also specifically homosexuals and transsexuals. While many are familiar with haunting images of the first book burnings in Germany, which took place in May of 1933, most aren’t fully aware of their origin story. The books and texts that provided the fuel for that first bonfire came from the library of the Institute for Sexual Research, founded in 1919 by Magnus Hirschfeld, a gay, Jewish doctor. As Scientific American notes, the Institute was “full of life everywhere” and provided incredible and groundbreaking gender affirmation care to trans individuals. Its mission was to provide a center for “research, teaching, healing and refuge” that could “free the individual from physical ailments, psychological afflictions and social deprivation.” In other words, the first book burning in Germany, which led to copycat bonfires around the country, was an attack on a trans care institution. There are echoes of this today: The far-right has specifically chosen to target trans care centers in America, including repeated bomb threats to Boston Children’s Hospital, for providing gender affirming medical care.

Whatever your views on monarchy, arrest of anti-royalist campaigners for exercising right to peaceful protest is chilling. Many of us warned about exactly this when govt rushed thro the illiberal public order bill. This is not what democracy looks like inews.co.uk/opinion/most-d…

The arrest of anti-monarchy protestors in London this morning is an abuse of power enabled by the authoritarian and unlawful Public Order Bill, passed by this disgraceful government. The right to peaceful protest must be respected and this demonstration allowed to continue.

A woman arrested in Edinburgh for holding an anti monarchy sign. A man arrested in Edinburgh for heckling Prince Andrew as “sick”. A barrister told by police in London that a placard saying “not my King” would see him arrested. This ‘accession’ is anti democratic.

A 79-year-old man in Illinois shot and killed his neighbor as he did yard work. The two had argued before and the victim was using a leaf blower. “Once again, easy access to firearms has turned a dispute into a deadly crime,” the state attorney said. lakemchenryscanner.com/2023/04/25/79-…
