When the company blues paper over people, people leave. I faced this when I was a technician, having a National Higher Diploma and not a BSC degree. I was running teams as leading R&D, sent to the factory to sort out production hassles, all the role of a senior or chief technician. I was passed over for promotion- when asked why I got told because I didn’t have the correct qualification I had to have more years experience. I found a new job and put in my notice. I spent the last month there training the TWO people they employed to take over my responsibilities. Yep, they ended up paying double when a promotion would have been a 30% bump and they would have retained an experienced employee.

I have excelled in 4 different positions in 4 years, each one helping progress my career. Your scenario mainly applies to manual labor.

Nope, that is the myth they try to sell to get people to stay until they can be replaced. Companies are not about loyalty to employees they are about profits. If they suspect an employee will leave they will look to replace that employee. Accepting a counter offer means you have cancelled leaving with a guaranteed job to leaving and having to find a job.

The last time I tried to leave my company they sent corporate in and offered me nearly double my salary on a completely restructured pay plan based more on my performance. The grass is usually never greener also.

Speak to most personnel consultants and they will tell you NOT to take a counter offer. The company will have already decided to start looking to replace you since you have shown you were willing to leave. Plus, if they didn’t value you properly in the past why would they change now?

@Uber_RSA my account was hacked despite 2FA. I couldn’t access it and had to cancel all cards I had used with it. I go back in to try and recover it, and I get told it doesn’t even exist anymore! Do explain how my account was hacked, my email address removed and completely deletes your automated help system is completely useless

The expansion of the legislation in Israel which makes the death penalty mandatory for terrorist acts is indefensible, not because of the hypocrisy of the 8 Muslim countries that condemn it, but because capital punishment is wrong. I doubt Israeli judges will apply this penalty.
