@Xilo_K My friend got linen sheets once because her girlfriend preferred them, and they literally ripped after a few months

@funanchill @dovidmargolin My family's Ashkenazi cuisine has always had spices and herbs...dill, parsley, alliums (so much garlic), thyme, rosemary, paprika, etc.

@dovidmargolin And bagels and lox. Yes we have some delicious items but overall we have a drab grey cuisine without spice or fresh herbs. Sephardic doesn’t suffer from this problem,

They keep Sephardic Jews a secret from Ashkenazi children, not because of racism, but because otherwise the children would expect good food at holidays

@ChefGruel Cute story but you can’t wear a military uniform outside of base - have a family member in the marines.

@nunboi @uwuhours Ah, yes. I'm familiar with that. And it definitely applies to bras, as well!

@alpacaficus @uwuhours OK basically when your poor you buy cheap work boots and they don't last so you have to buy them a lot vs having the money for good ones that last forever. That seems to apply to what you described for bras.

@MattZeitlin Grew up in LA, so I can't relate. Also, my Ashkenazi Jewish mom is a fantastic cook, and we always ate very well at holidays

@nunboi @uwuhours Very fair. And the cheapest bras make the most concessions for quality, fit, and durability

@alpacaficus @uwuhours Well put. I think my issue was it was pretty basic bras. This would've been the early 00s so the great ones were only at high end dept stores and out of reach for the women in my life. It feels like things have gotten a bit better at least!

@nunboi @uwuhours Yes, but I'm going to wear these bras more often than someone might wear a nice silk tie. The cost is kinda ridiculous, but only when you don't realize that the cost of materials and skill needed to make a durable garment that will be worn nearly every day is worth the price.

@alpacaficus @uwuhours To add, I remember when I learned as a younger me that a basic bra cost as a nice silk tie. It was like WTF. Once again sadly it's the woman tax on everything.

@nunboi @uwuhours A 34DDD in one brand I tried on today had a vastly different fit from a 34DDD in another, and there were even fit issues within the same brand depending on the style of bra

@nunboi @uwuhours Literally just bought some new bras today, and I really like the fit of Natori bras atm. Part of the issue with bra sizing is that the same issues about sizing across brands being different still exists, despite the supposedly consistent nomenclature

@Grogposter @Chukuma1manup @h34j3j8j @AceRedBand1t And yet for some reason they are by FAR the most common religious event besides christian holidays. Mind you there are double the muslims in that country yet "sabbatical, bar mitzvah, ashkenazi" and "krav maga" get used super often. Muslim holidays genuinely get only named 1/2

My takeaway from Seder has always been “It is just — and indeed imperative — to struggle, even violently, for liberation against subjugation,” not “we must establish a settler colonial Jewish supremacist nation state through ethnic cleansing beginning in the mid-20th century.”
Jon Levine@LevineJonathan

I genuinely don't understand how these people celebrate Passover — the entire holiday is a refutation of everything they believe

@pjharpy @muaddibstyle I mean, if you're going to be that technical, the roots of fantasy (folklore/fairy tales) are full of horror — cutting off toes and heels, cannibalism, etc.

@muaddibstyle Everyone trying to do a gotcha with The Wizard of Oz movie either hasn't watched it recently or got distracted by the Technicolor. It's chock full of horror! (I will give them the books though, they're pretty straightforwardly fantasy)

@WorldsWorstXMan @nintendopower45 @_celia_bedelia_ The phrase "zionist degeneracy" is clearly used here as a vague veneer over the conspiracy theory that "jewish degeneracy" creates porn and sex positive culture...you're obfuscating by saying that zionism doesn't equate to Judaism
