NATO on the Portuguese Army, 1985:
"The level of war reserve stocks of ammunition of the Portuguese Army is well below the 30 day requirement. National budget allocations are barely sufficient to cover training requirements, thus there is complete reliance on external assistance to redress the present situation.
Tank ammunition is at 14% with an increase to 37% by end 1989, 155mm howitzer ammunition is planned to move from three to four days following an increment of 1,000 rounds next year.
These appear to be the only improvements foreseen and as a consequence no change is to be expected to the current and projected critical ammunition posture of the 1st Brigade.
The status of stocks of expendable and non-expendable supplies is no better. Only 11 out of 42 items of major equipment satisfy the 30 day operational stock requirement. Critical deficiencies are also reported for spare parts for some armoured vehicles."

⚡️Portugal’s drone exports to 🇺🇦Ukraine have surged from $4.3M in 2022 to $87.3M in 2025, now twice the value of all drones ever sold to 🇷🇺Russia. Before the war, Portuguese drone sales to Ukraine were 5–10× lower than to Russia; today Ukraine outpaces Russia by a widening margin. I dont think a lot of people are aware of how rare and dangerous the situation is in Portugal right now.
Over 600mm+ of rainfall is likely to fall between now and the 15th. This will lead to extreme flash flooding and potentially communties being cut off.
Along side this, strong winds may also be associated from the storms that are going to impact Portugal in the coming weeks.

✨ I used Claude Code to one-shot a 💁♀️ Karen Bot When we walk or drive around we come across a lot of things here that could be improved in terms of public infrastructure Roads near us have lots of potholes, there's municipal waste bins here that someone put on fire 6 months ago, and they're all melted away and still not replaced, and the roadside mirror at a dangerous crossing suddenly disappeared so now when you wanna turn in there you might get because so many blindspots When we emailed the city council about the holes in the road, they were actually fixed 3 days later (very fast!), so it does work to contact them, they just need to know what to fix and I don't think many other people report stuff here It's annoying to keep emailing them, so I made a page that me and gf can use to describe the problem, attach a photo, set a point on the map where it is, from our phones or laptop Then ChatGPT writes a letter in formal Portuguese, adds the Google Maps link with GPS coordinates, reverse looks up the address and adds it, attaches the photo of the problem and sends it to the local city council Just a little one-shotted app to make our lives easier
