I finally earned my PhD today. These last few years were a vivid mixture of beautifully complex emotions that I am grateful for. Thank you to all my mentors at every stage of my career, especially my advisor, Dr Thorsten Kahnt @KahntLab, who was there to help at every stage.

@SuzanneSindi The proof that there are infinitely many composite numbers: For sake of contradiction, suppose there were finitely many. Multiply them all together, and….don’t add 1.

@howie_hua (E). (10-3)x(10-2) = 100 - 10x(3+2) + 3x2 = 50+6 (F). 3.5x16 = 48+8 = 56 (G). (7.5-0.5)x(7.5+0.5) = (7.5)^2 - (0.5)^2 = 56.25-0.25 = 56

Been asked a couple of times in a row this week to share my defn of what mathematics is & what a mathematician does. I responded as below. Today's "puzzle:" What is your defn of each? (Do my attempts have any merit?) (Also: Did you know the about the circle numbers in the Δ?)

It's an interesting place value system (with limitations of identifying "places" beyond 9999). Vertical line is literally a placeholder! Arithmetic rules are difficult? Well, this is precisely the level of difficulty a child goes through while learning maths in primary classes!
Massimo@Rainmaker1973
