We Indians don't like to work hard. Smart ones become fraudsters, rest are just lazy. I laugh when we compare ourselves to China. Chinese are hard working. India is unique in its own way. It just somehow works & we are not even ambitious. The 0.5% population is our saving grace

BIG: Fake Embassy being run in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh of India has been busted by UP STF. On 22 July 2025, the Noida unit of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) busted an illegal embassy being operated in Ghaziabad and arrested Harsh Vardhan Jain, son of J.D. Jain, resident of KB-45, Kavi Nagar, Ghaziabad. Harsh Vardhan was running a fake West Arctica Embassy from a rented house at KB-35, Kavi Nagar. He falsely claimed to be a consul or ambassador of fictitious or micronation entities such as West Arctica, Saborga, Poulvia, and Ladonia. He used several cars with diplomatic number plates and tried to influence people using morphed photographs of himself with the Prime Minister, President, and other dignitaries. Investigations revealed that Harsh Vardhan had previous links with Chandraswami and international arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi. In 2011, he was also found with an illegal satellite phone, for which a case was registered at Kavi Nagar Police Station. Items recovered include: 1.Four Luxury vehicles with diplomatic number plates 2.Twelve diplomatic passports of micronation entities 3.Forged documents with the seal of the Ministry of External Affairs 4.Two forged PAN Cards 5.Thirty-four seals of various countries and companies 6.Two forged press cards 7. @MohapatraHemant Hemant - great thoughts on the saas space. Was speaking to a saas founder yesterday and we can relate it to some of the thoughts presented on this thread.

For those of you following anything SaaS, you'll note there have been a lot of calls around 'saas is dead' lately. If you are wondering why, I wrote about this last yr here👇. This isn't just about saas but rather a 50yr macro CAPEX/OPEX cycle at play under the hood. : shorturl.at/sJ4IZ

Somewhere as we grow up, priorities changed from pleasure maximisation to pain minimisation. Not sure if it's good or bad. Only happening with me or everyone?

Hey @bkartred & @sanjaynath - you guys broke the #StartupInternet with this - kudos to you for tracking this level of detail, let alone sharing it in public. While it was mostly amazing, I'm still smirking at the adjective used to describe me in the context of #zipdial "Old man with 20 years experience, former CEO of mChek, Committed to mentoring ZipDial on an ongoing basis". I'll have you know, I've been called young as recent as....🤪 Seriously, congrats again - love to be co-creating this early-stage ecosystem with you guys and wish the @BlumeVentures team all success in the coming decade. For the ecosystem it should be said that very few track and almost nobody shares such data in public. I've read a few comments on the performance, currency impact, IRR, blah blah - the ecosystem when Blume and Prime started out was at a very nascent stage. The startup & VC business has come along a great deal even since 2015 and I'm sure future cohorts, many of which are already in fairly advanced stages are becoming more credible over time. 3Cheers to the Indian Startup Ecosystem!

The Omega Files (Inaugural edition) ———————————————— It has taken over a dozen years to get here. I was hoping it would be done by year 10. And we still have a few years before the Final Chapters of the Blume Fund I journey are entirely closed. The First Edition of The Omega Files are about a proclamation from 6-7 years ago. Eyes widened at various LP (“Limited Partner”) offices around the world when I told them that we will start declassifying our Fund performances and track records as we reach the end of life of the fund. There’s never a perfect time but this year felt like the closest we’ve been to the emotion of launching this new publication. We are almost done with all of Fund I and its vintage (will be fully done by mid 2024) While it took a lot of inputs and data to piece together from team members helping us, my able lieutenant in putting this out has been @AdithyaS017 with his interns. Without touching any other firm resources, he’s put his head down over 6 months amidst regular business, to get us here. A huge shout-out to @anandlunia and the team @IndiaQuotient for agreeing to, and contributing towards their guest cameo feature here. (We invite others to park their spots for edition 2 next year) And here we go: bit.ly/BVTheOmegaFile… Hope you’ve stocked up on enough popcorn 🍿 or nachos or whatever your snack of choice. Yes - it’s an iPad or desktop docsend view. Yes - there are dozens of other things we would have like to add. Yes - so many more hundreds of small stories. But we wanted to strike a balance between the two big truth parameters of the capital markets - Data and the Market itself - and blend some of the stories (the people are the most important part) in the second half of the report. Head is already spinning with ideas for the 2nd edition. For now, may the learning begin. (The J curve of a fund is more Jagged than The Rolling Stones…behold)

This is totally me! My thesis on #BananaChips is something nobody has as yet convinced me is wrong. Frying is bad for you - I hear ya Potato is neutral - so fried potato chips are bad for you, I get it. Banana is good for you - so FRIED BANANA CHIPS ARE NEUTRAL - but not harmful! I just don't understand why people don't get it - it's my theory and I'm sticking with it. Anyone who counters it with a factual or logical argument will be blocked 🤪

1/ We love *Spend lines* at @Stellaris_VP, and have recently invested in two i.e. @GoKiwiNow and other’s still in stealth. I remember me and @jindalprateek87 being completely blown away the first time we heard it in 2018 at Ola FS. A #fintech thread 👇

I have met many startups founded by husband-wife, brother-brother, cousins etc, but recently met a couple of Father-Son teams seeking seed funding. Trying to digest this, can this dynamic work? In one team, son is the lead and father is sort of advisor and in the other team, father is the lead and son is an understudy.

Is it just me or has @WhatsApp desktop client become really unstable. The sync'ing of messages is iffy, the app hangs on the MAC, and takes for ever to load messages every time. It used to work a lot better in the past.

Finally RBI released the list of entities allowed to operate as payment aggregators. The usuals on the list: Razorpay, PineLabs, Cashfree The usuals not on the list: PayU and Paytm Surprising one is Google: (given RBI’s apprehension with big tech in fintech).
