If @realDonaldTrump wants to help @SpiritAirlines he can do it. It’s in his hands. Everyday Americans will hurt - beyond the nearly 20k employees who will lose their livelihoods - it will cost consumers $1B annually. If you’re in charge @POTUS then make it happen now.

.@SpiritAirlines talks continue. Sources tell @JenniferJJacobs and I two of the three Spirit creditor groups are on board with the government's offer of up to a $500M lifeline. The unsecured creditors and the revolving creditors are in. The bondholders have not yet committed.

@krassenstein @SpiritAirlines creates competition in the market. Many have been bailed out to the tune of 80 Billion dollars. Spirit is in this position because of factors completely outside of their control. This isn’t about an airline this is about the 19,000 human beings who work here.

@SenTomCotton The issue has never been the airlines ability to run successfully but a series of events out of their control and unfortunate events since COVID. Spirit changed the entire aviation landscape with lower fares and value flying.

If Spirit’s creditors or other potential investors don’t think they can run it profitably coming out of its second bankruptcy in under two years, I doubt the US Government can either. Not the best use of taxpayer dollars.

Illinois aviation workers need IL expanded sick leave like every other worker! Airline executives pushed an exemption that leaves us without these protections in a pandemic no less! Speaker @RepChrisWelch, we’re making sure you get the support to move SB 645 to fix this wrong.
