@cwebbonline Hard to take serious anyone that puts “Lifelong Dem” as one of their labels. I vote for the best candidate irrespective of party. Right now that is San Jose Mayor @MattMahanSJ

WE NEED TO KEEP CALLING THIS OUT BECAUSE IT MATTERS: California is the 4th largest economy on Earth, and the most populous state in the country. This isn’t a place for amateurs. Becerra has the experience for a state this big, this complex, and this consequential. I’m not interested in gambling on Steve Hilton, the guy who cheered on Brexit and helped crash the British economy. California is not a lab for imported bad ideas. Or Chad Bianco, a conspiracy theorist and ballot thief, running on fear, while his department ranked dead last in solving major crimes and was the highest-paid sheriff in the state. High pay for dead-last performance is highway robbery.

@JoshInEncinitas So many dumb comments. It’s purely to avoid probate, which, like everything in CA, rips you off with 4% in fees for first $100k in estate value. All the way to 1% on $9M. All the people here also have their trust as the beneficiary for all their 401ks, bank accounts etc.

Should California's .61 a gallon gas tax be temporarily suspended with gas prices so high? @XavierBecerra: "how about we suspend Donald Trump and we can bring the price down much more than the .61 we get from the gas tax? If we don't have a gas tax, how do you keep your roads repaired, how do you build the bridges you need, how do you fill the potholes?" I ask: "other states pay a lot lower gas taxes & they still have roads that work?" Becerra: "Let's go take a look and compare." Fellow Democratic candidate @MattMahanSJ says it should be temporarily suspended & replaced long term with something more progressive. He says the gas tax hurts people who can't afford electric vehicles; while electric vehicle owners benefit from others paying the tax. Becerra: "Whether its an electric vehicle or not, you're using the roads. The gas tax provides us with the resources to fix the roads."

Here is your answer moron. This and gas tax. California requires a unique, specially refined “boutique” blend of gasoline—known as California Reformulated Gasoline (CaRFG, currently Phase 3 or CaRFG3, often based on CARBOB)—that most refineries outside the state do not produce. Now we have to import our refined gas and it will get worse as local refineries close.

Four corporations control 90% of California's refining capacity. That's not a market — that's a monopoly. I'll attack their grip on gas pricing and force an investigation into why Californians pay more than anyone else in the country.

Wow, you really are dumb and lose any credibility. Points 1 & 2 are verifiable. Other stats: Highest gas prices (not a good thing) BILLIONS spent on homelessness, no change BILLIONS on a high speed rail from Merced to Bakersfield (we’ll see) Education now in the bottom 10 Highest sales tax Highest income taxes Highest housing costs Highest cost of living

To my fellow California voters: Let’s not hand the keys to this state over to Republicans in November. That starts in the June primary. Our economy is outperforming the entire country, and they’re still mad at the scoreboard. In other words: There’s work to do, but let’s not screw this up and let Republicans wreck the state. Please and thank you.

@TomSteyer @grok does California have a specific blend of gas no other state refinery produces and therefore CA has to import much of its gas from overseas by boat? Also, how much does the gas tax in CA drive up costs?

California gas prices are absolutely outrageous—all to pay for someone else’s stupid war. But any driver knows that this isn’t entirely new. Gas in this state has been way too expensive for way too long. The days of Trump and Big Oil screwing Californians are numbered.

@ChadBianco You should probably stick to attacks on Dems only if you want to throw a wrinkle in an open primary and hope in the general election it’s just the two of you. Then all bets are off. Just sayin 🤷🏼‍♂️

In February, the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the United States was $2.91. Now it’s $4.22 . That's what you get when you elect an idiot the president of the United States, allow him to start a war without congressional approval.

Jeff Bezos has $222 billion. If he paid my wealth tax this year, we could build this entire high speed rail network—and have plenty of money left over. And Bezos would still have $215 billion dollars to spare.

Californians, be careful about believing CBS News, it's owned by Larry Ellison who's a rightwing creep who;s trying to help Repubs take over Calif and ruin it. Yes, gas costs more in California, but I remember when the air was so toxic from pollution it made your eyes sting.
CBS Sacramento@CBSSacramento

For years, California leaders accused oil companies of price gouging at the pump, but a state investigation found no evidence of that. Instead, a CBS News California investigation found what's really driving the highest gas prices in the U.S. cbsloc.al/3PPOHwW

@america Cleaning up an industry is one thing, but 221 in ten weeks is less of a "reform" and more of a "demolition derby." Apparently, in LA, it’s easier to find a movie set than a place to spend your final days. At this rate, the only thing left in California will be the paperwork.
