🚨 the judge who tried to fly a pride flag in her courtroom.. just got permanently banned from every courtroom in Texas.. Judge Rosie Speedlin-Gonzalez.. Bexar County's first openly LGBT judge.. ordered a defense attorney handcuffed and thrown in the jury box during a probation hearing in December 2024.. the attorney wasn't a defendant.. she was a licensed defense lawyer doing her job.. and here's the wildest part.. the same judge who spent years fighting to display a flag about rights and dignity in her courtroom.. ended her career by stripping the rights and dignity of an attorney in front of a live jury.. she was indicted in January 2026 on felony unlawful restraint and official oppression.. by April she agreed to resign immediately and accept a lifetime ban from any judicial role in Texas.. in exchange for the charges being dropped.. this is the same playbook every single time.. the people loudest about justice.. are often the ones who forget it applies in both directions.. the ban isn't coming from her politics.. it's coming from the handcuffs she put on someone who didn't deserve them. This video brought joyful tears to my eyes this morning. Two years ago, my nanny decided to leave abruptly. I was rotating through general surgery with heavy patient load, frequent calls, and needed to stay in the hospital for several days during unit calls and patients that required us to operate till 2am. My husband had just closed for the year. So I had to drop our 10-month-old with him for about 3 weeks before I got another nanny. He bathed her. Fed her. Washed her hair. Spent quality time with her while I was at work. I didn't have to choose between my career and my child because he stepped up. This morning, that little girl, now 3 years old, knocked on my door and said: "Mummy, open the door. I want to greet you and Daddy." Oh, my word! Fully cohesive. Fully intentional. I can't believe how much she's grown. People talk about "having it all" like it's something you do alone. It's not. You can be an excellent surgeon AND an excellent mother, but not without a strong support system. Who you marry matters because they hold the line when you can't. I'm grateful for this man. And for the bond he built with our daughter when I couldn't be there. I can't even be jealous. Partnership isn't about splitting tasks 50/50.It's about stepping in 100% when your partner needs you to. Enjoy your weekend 😘
