When I wrote for the AV Club they sent me to do this Random Rules with Moby before a show, I think at Bowery Ballroom. The idea was you'd take their iPod and shuffle it and talk about the first five songs that came up. When I got there, Moby's publicist told me that he "forgot" his iPod. So instead Moby exquisitely curated a perfectly diverse and just-obscure-enough mix of songs precision calibrated to transmit the image of himself and his taste that he wanted to put out there. The au pair story reminds me of babysitting overnight on a Friday at 14 and the father in the morning insisting that I take a shower while the mom is bringing the kids to swimming class. I said no. Here’s the thing on @Metallica ticket sales at the @SphereVegas ladies and gentleman…. We can complain about the ticket prices but the fact is the tickets are selling for these prices. If they are selling and shows are being added they are not OVERPRICED! These shows are not for a gen pop audience price wise. The band doesn’t care if you can’t afford to go. Obviously there are thousands willing to pay. There are likely 5 bands in world still alive that can get away with these prices and Metallica is one of them. I would not fret if you didn’t get tickets today. There will be tons of shows added over the next few years!
