My brother, who owns a headset and is a professed fan of VR, is visiting. I tell him "hey before you go, you should try this new game, it's one of the best exclusive games on the newest headset on the market (Call of the Mountain on PSVR 2)." He says "I don't know if I'm up for all of that." This is the reality of VR friction today. It should be a no-brainer for someone to want to jump in with the offer of 'top content on top hardware', but as with most people who own a headset, there's a subconscious negative association with VR because it's always such a hassle to use it that it rarely feels worth the trouble, even if when you'd ask the person they say they love VR and it's so cool. I see this all. the. time. Moving to standalone was a big step in the right direction, but VR still has to get 10x easier if it's going to go mainstream.
