@HawthorneSJJ I understand that the manufacturer checked a number a times that this was really what was wanted, as building trains without those things was seen by the rail industry as an unusual choice.

@HawthorneSJJ DfT decided that power sockets, wifi and seat back tables weren't needed. It eventually changed its mind, but while tables and wifi could be installed fairly easily, sockets would have needed to be designed in from the start. First class (declassified at the back) has sockets.

Does @TLRailUK provide mobile charging points on its trains? They go from Brighton to Luton at least. None on my train to Brighton from East Croydon today. Curiously. @SouthernRailUK (same owners) always provides sockets. Left with 22% charge on the way back. Too low for comfort!

Given the overhead electric wires were removed from south London in 1929, this @SouthernRailUK problem could last some time!

The King has just given a life peerage to Charles Kinnoull, making him Baron Kinnoull of the Ochils. So far, so normal. Except that he was already a hereditary peer -- the 16th Earl of Kinnoull. So he is both a hereditary peer and a life peer -- at the same time.

@andrew_grantham I’m guessing it is Osh Paz! In which case, they’re the best in London. They do street food markets & have a restaurant on Lower Regent St, & also do the catering for events at @UZBinUK. Highly recommended.

A friend wanted something different to eat, so we tried an #Uzbekistan place at Seven Dials in London.

Goodnight from The Resurrection Crow pub, where the Whirlow Mummers are desperately stitching their costumes for tomorrow’s plough play. Goodnight from Five Hives Cottage on Treacle Lane, its door double bolted against the Wicker King testing the latch. Goodnight from Hookland.

Goodnight from the long-shuttered cabins of the abandoned Neverland holiday camp, its resident shades drunkenly dancing to Petula Clark records. Goodnight from the fields of Coldharbour Farm, where a bear made of mist is moving against the prevailing wind. Goodnight from Hookland
