Hi everyone, I have some big personal news: I’m moving back to Winnipeg! Thrilled to be The Globe and Mail’s Manitoba reporter, as I join the incredible @globeandmail national team to tell stories out of this beautiful, unpredictable, sardonic and ever-evolving region of Canada.

Lagimodière now has a Métis, queer MLA who grew up here and whose ancestors are from here. That's a big deal! I'm excited to see him seated in the Manitoba Legislature, and to see what he'll accomplish for our province.

My job means that I can't weigh in on politics, but now that the results are finally in I can say: I'm damn proud of my husband. He worked so hard for this, and is going to be an excellent MLA.

Get out there and vote, Manitoba folks. All the cute people are doing it 😉

And if you protested in support of 'parental rights', lose my number and get out of my life.

I wish I could say that leaving the counter-protest in Winnipeg this morning I felt a sense of pride. Instead, I felt angry, scared and sad. The queer community needs your support now, and we expect you to show up for us.

Today felt truly awful. Please check in on your queer and trans friends and relations. Despite what a devastating number of people across the country want you to believe - the lives of queer and trans youth are not up for debate.

The @BrandonMBSD board meeting tonight is at capacity. My old high school gym is packed to the rafters - I'd estimate 90% are here to support queer folks and speak out against book bans.
