•The U.S. Senate may hold a floor vote TODAY which would overturn a 20-year moratorium on sulfide-ore copper mining on 225,000 acres of Superior National Forest land in the watershed of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) Wilderness in northern Minnesota. The Boundary Waters is the most visited Wilderness in the United States.  🛶 Enjoying the Minnesotan/Canadian wilderness by canoe or other lesser watercraft is one of our nations greatest available pastimes, and one I have personally enjoyed my entire life. We must protect these public lands from the rapacious capitalists threatening to turn them into a poisoned wasteland. •This vote in Congress would open the door to copper mining at the headwaters of this entire ecosystem. This kind of mining produces toxic pollution, including acid runoff and heavy metals, that can contaminate nearby waters. •The Boundary Waters supports a major outdoor economy that sustains thousands of jobs and generates over a billion dollars a year - built on clean water and intact public lands. But this vote would clear the way for toxic mining that puts all of that at risk. It would also set a dangerous precedent, making it easier to roll back protections for public lands across the country, including wilderness areas, national monuments, and national parks.  •This is a defining moment. If you care about clean water, public lands, and protecting places we can’t replace, now is the time to speak up. •Protect the Boundary Waters, and vote NO on House Joint Resolution 140. Let’s save this treasured place for all of us—forever. on.nrdc.org/4csRkwi

I have a barely middle class background. If we didn't have a mother who could turn a nickel into a dime, we would have been lower class. My family were all working class. Farmers, labourers, fishers, miners, factory workers. My dad sold office equipment. My mother worked in a nursing home. My first jobs in order were CN Rail tie gang, forklift operator, and to get through university, I worked at Hub Meat Packers loading beef and pork onto trucks. I know what it's like to work for a living.

@MattWith2Tees @deAdder I've seen no indication from De Adder that he does not respect people from the working class or poor. He is a political cartoonist. I come from those classes and if he was, I'd have spotted it pretty quick.

if all these countries can he brazen enough to ask for @ZelenskyyUa help in defending their countries...while he's actively trying to hold off a gd Russian invansion...they can pony up some legit help to him so he can defend his #SlavaUkraïni
Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський@ZelenskyyUa

The United States has reached out to us regarding their bases in Middle Eastern countries. We’ve also been approached by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait. We’re already working with some of them, and our expert teams are already on the ground, assessing the situation and sharing invaluable experience. Because no matter how many Patriots, THAADs, or other air defense systems are in the Middle East, that alone is not enough for fully effective air defense. There are modern interceptors designed to counter heavy drone strikes. Now, we are discussing future deliveries of certain equipment that Ukraine has. We want Middle Eastern countries to give us the opportunity to strengthen ourselves as well. They have some air defense missiles that we lack. We would like to reach agreements on this. Funding is the scarcest resource today. Our defense industry is currently operating at half capacity, and we need more financing to produce drones for ourselves. That’s why we are ready to sell to our partners the systems we have in surplus. And we’re not just selling – we’ll provide our expertise as well. Interceptor drones don’t work without our expertise. It’s the system that works. From an interview with Le Monde (1/5).

U.S. Senator John Fetterman@SenFettermanPA

This mayhem came from a very specific choice to shut DHS down. Pure mass chaos that I refuse to vote for. Can you imagine what this must be like for the UNPAID TSA employees and people that are desperate to make their flight??

@Angry_Staffer Because we have a super duper top secret mission and someone in out govt said ‘Hey let’s not use any of our highly trained operatives for this. Let’s use the plumber from Oklahoma.’ It’s so ridiculous, it’s not even a good movie plot.
