Le Programme Alimentaire Mondial des Nations Unies vient d'annoncer que ses réserves de nourriture à Gaza sont épuisées en raison du blocus du gouvernement israélien. La nourriture ne peut être utilisée à des fins politiques. Les civils palestiniens ne doivent pas subir les conséquences des crimes terroristes du Hamas. Le Programme Alimentaire Mondial doit être autorisé à reprendre son travail visant à sauver des vies. Le Canada défend le droit international et a annoncé un montant additionnel de près de 100 M$ pour soutenir les Nations Unies et d'autres partenaires internationaux de confiance afin d’acheminer de la nourriture et de l'aide humanitaire. Nous continuerons à travailler avec nos alliés pour obtenir un cessez-le-feu permanent et le retour immédiat de tous les otages.

The UN World Food Programme just announced that its food stocks in Gaza have run out because of the Israeli Government’s blockade — food cannot be used as a political tool. Palestinian civilians must not bear the consequences of Hamas’ terrorist crimes. The World Food Programme must be allowed to resume its lifesaving work. Canada stands for international law and has recently committed an additional amount of nearly $100 million to support the UN and other trusted international partners in providing food and humanitarian aid. We will continue to work with our allies towards a permanent ceasefire and the immediate return of all hostages.

Canada’s longstanding position on Gaza has not changed. We are committed to achieving a two-state solution, where Israelis and Palestinians can live securely within internationally recognised borders. 1/2
